Joanie is very rude and unprofessional. She treats customers with disrespect rather than as a customer. Another problem is the fact that the building is on lockdown and they refuse to allow people to walk inside. You have to call and IF they choose to answer the phone at that particular time, you may or may not receive service. We can walk into Walmart without being harassed during COVID-19, but we can’t walk into the HEALTH DEPARTMENT the very ones setting rules for public places. How ironic is that?! Joanie needs to learn how to deal with the public properly.
Government employee Joanie is so friendly and helpful! She answered all of my questions thoroughly and politely. I wish more people were that nice!
I took my mother to the Madison County Health department because we wanted to talk to someone in person about signing up for the vaccine. We’ve heard that certain people have been vaccinated ahead of the general public. As we were walking into the building, a nice man let us in and he told us where to go. We went to the front area and approached the woman at the desk. She had a scowl on her face, and I asked her what is the matter. She said you are supposed to be here! We said we didn’t know that, and someone let us in. We then asked if we could see if my mother could get signed up since she lives by herself and I live 6 hours away - we wanted to see if we could be proactive rather than waiting on the health department to contact us, and I was afraid she might not understand or know if and when they notify her. The woman at the front desk couldn’t have been more rude and curt. She seemed to go out of her way to withhold information and when we asked for more information, she just read of her sheet or rebuffed our questions with only dead end negativities. At least she could have been more sympathetic. She was so mean. We just threw our hands up and walked out of there. She just didn’t care. And tax payers are paying her salary.
I have been trying to set up an appointment for my sons 2 months vaccines for over two weeks. I call everyday and get sent to voicemail every time. I have never gotten a call back and my son turned 2 months today. No one has contacted me and I know they’re not letting people in the building with no appointment.
A fantastic low-cost public resource. If you didn't know, this facility provides low-cost or no-cost vaccinations and public health services. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. Less waiting than your typical doctor's office, and they accept most private insurances. Adding to this, they are putting to use an otherwise abandoned building, this is great service and facility offered to residents of Madison County. I am truly impressed.
Beware! Govt employee Joanie likes to call cops on innocent people and is very hostile toward the public. Hopefully she has been disciplined for her behavior and no longer acts that way!
Some people need help with online appointments. When you call you should be able to set an appointment. You are paying people to answer the phone to tell them to go online. And you wonder why people aren't getting vaccinated. I'm vaccinated already
Though it took a long time,I greatly appreciate the staff, particularly the nurses, who helped me get immunizations for my high school exchange students. While the haters will criticize without even being able to imagine a world without public health departments, I have been in other countries with public health, particularly immunization, programs inferior to ours, and seen prwcisely how life can be "nasty, brutish, and short" because of weak government services. Thank you, public health workers, for keeping my girls, and their schoolmates, safe....not to mention me, my family, and the haters, as well.
Very professional. Our children got vaccines and the health care workers were so good with the kids.
I was extremely impressed with how well the vaccination event is being handled at Gateway Plaza Convention center! Everyone was very professional, courteous and helpful.
