Great restaurant that has a great atmosphere matched with a spacious seating area and great music. The food is also top tier, especially their chicken which is juicy and crispy. I would definitely recommend this place for large parties, which you can book space for ahead of time.
Absolutely love this place. It’s my favourite Filipino restaurant in Toronto. They cook to perfection “Kare Kare” a famous Filipino dish. It’s such a great place for Filipino gatherings. The staff are friendly and they do provide excellent customer service.
Great authentic Phillipines food here, with great service, nice decor, and plenty of seating space. Food was served quickly when we were here at off-peak hours, and tasted great with fresh ingredients all around.
The Service and food is decent. The signature chicken dish has nice crispy skin, with the chicken being nicely cooked, however, it is bland. The pinakbet had a good flavor but it would be great if they peeled the skin off the shrimp. Sinigang shrimp had a nice balance of saltiness and sourness, a great dish to go with plain white rice. The food portion is small for the amount they charge $18.00 - $25.00 per dish. There are plenty of options to go for Filipino food and I have to say Max's Filipino Restaurant is not a good representation of great Filipino food. I would recommend Sampaguita at Bathurst and Wilson or Summer House at Bathurst and Sheppard.
This restaurant is not as good as it used to be. The servers and staff are courteous and professional and a pleasure to deal with. The food portions were smaller compared to previous years. There was no pork adobo which was a huge disappointment. The food was not market priced in comparison with other Filipino restaurants. Beer was way overpriced at $10 for 355ml bottle of Stella tax incl. Dine in was quiet for a Saturday night.
Nice decor, spacious dining room, pleasant staff, but it was difficult to order for individual, lunch plating. Seems most of the plates are best shared, and are not individually garnished with rice, fries, or veggies. I'm not sure this is a lunchtime place for office colleagues. At 12:45pm the place was literally empty--perhaps dinner time is a different story?
Great service. All staff was very welcoming. Clean and spacious restaurant. Delicious food. Great overall experience.
Very unhappy with the service. We ordered our food and the food came out different. Ordered the sisig and got lechon sisig, ordered the garlic rice but got steamed rice, and a soup was dropped off at our table which we did not order. We had to reconfirm with another waiter what was actually ordered. At the end of the meal I saw that they tagged a 15% gratuity onto the bill after I tapped to pay which the machine asked for additional tip on top… so I accidentally tipped on top which I then asked them to refund my additional tip because I did not enjoy the service… in which they told me they cannot do it as it is company policy to not make refunds???? Very disappointed in my visit.
Weekend lunch with friends. Lumpiang Shanghai - Spring rolls with port inside. The wrap was crispy. Not bad. Fried Chicken - To be honest, I don't really understand why their chicken is so popular. It was kinda dry and tasteless inside... The fishy sauce was such a weird condiment, I could not figure out why they think it was a good combination. Kare-Kare - The peanut sauce was indeed very thick. My friends were guessing they might have added a lot of peanut butter in there. It tasted good for the first few bites, but you'll feel greasy after having more. Bangus Sisig - Greasy. Minced creamy milkfish with a lot of oil. Not my type. Garlic rice was good, but again a lot of oil. Halo halo was great for dessert. Service was good overall. For Filipino restaurant I've only been to Tinuno and this one, and so far I prefer Tinuno.
Halo Halo is the best you will find!! A good place for authentic for authentic Filipino food. Historic location that has been around since 1945. Good quality although prices have been recently increased.
