The Forsyth City Library was organized in August 1922 with the aid of the Forsyth Woman's Club.The name was changed to Monroe County Library, and the library was moved to the larger facilities on West Main Street on September 7, 1937.
Affiliation with the Flint River Regional Library began in 1964. In 1981 the present facility was expanded to approxiamately 10,000 spuare feet with capacity of 36,000 volumes.
There are 12 public access computers available as well as FREE WI-FI!!
It is the mission of the Monroe County Library to continually provide organized information, materials, services, and facilities necessary to stimulae thinking; to promote an informed citizenry and to enhance the educational, vocational, recreational, civic, and cultural pursuits of the community.
