My sisters and I could not recommend Morning View more highly. Our beloved father received care there, first for physical therapy and then for hospice in the last week of his life. The care was truly extraordinary. Every person we encountered was knowledgeable and clearly dedicated to patient care. They were equally attentive to us in a time of deep grief, checking in on us regularly to bring water or whatever we needed. We had heard good things from many people when we asked for recommendations on local facilities and have shared our experience with everyone. It was a difficult, stressful and challenging time for Dad and for us, but the Morning View team was the silver lining we had not expected. We were so grateful for their support and would give 10 stars if they were available. Thank you Morning View, we so appreciate all of you!
My dad was here for a month after several complications from surgery which hospitalized him. Almost the entire staff was excellent. Right now, they are overworked just like the rest of the healthcare industry but for many, you couldn't tell because they were so cheerful and helpful. I've read complaints in the reviews that people were sent home who refused therapy, as it should be. Those sent to transitional care are there because they need therapy to return to their everyday lives. Anyone there expecting to be waited on and don't do therapy are taking up bed space from those who truly want to improved and become independent. My dad improved so much, the therapists were excellent and knew how to motivate him. I saw too many patients who did not have visitors and it's very sad because emotional support from family members can make a huge difference in one's recovery. A few opportunities for improvement at TCC: my dad had to have a transfusion and I wanted actual blood lab numbers rather than relying on the fact that someone did indeed look at lab results and his numbers were improving. It was crazy hard getting lab results and I never did get his last numbers despite asking about 8 times over a 5 day period before his release. The communication with family members on lab results could be improved. The other area was order protocol. My dad had his in-dwelling catheter removed by his urologist while still a patient at TCC. About midnight he once again was unable to urinate and was in extreme pain. There is a doctor on staff but instead of contacting the staff doctor or letting common sense prevail, they kept him in pain until his urologist office opened at 8am and they received the order to put the catheter back in. If it weren't for the struggle with getting lab results and not re-catheterizing him when he couldn't urinate, I would have given them 5 stars. We turned in 10 nominations for the Gem award which is amazing for a subset of an industry that you usually hear complaints about. I would certainly trust Blount County TCC for any other family members including myself. The social worker was fantastic, always upbeat, helping us navigate Medicare since we have never been through this before and every Physical/Occupational Therapists was awesome and truly vested in getting my dad back to being independent as well as the rest of the staff. In fact on his day of release, every staff member that had worked with my dad came by to say goodbye and wish him well. Thank you TCC at Morning View Village, you were exactly what my dad needed.
My mom was transferred yesterday to Morning view for the 3rd time. Just so everyone knows my mom is in her right mind she just needs therapy to walk after she fell and broke her knee in 3 places and a ride was put in her leg. 1st 2 times she was here for therapy they only showed her how to transfer from her wheelchair to the bed on a board. The second time she was at MV the lady sharing the room with my mom was mean to my mom and always telling me that I need to leave and leave my mom alone cause she was their to get away from her family. Yep I finally got rude and told the lady to shut up and mind her own business and maybe she was their to give her family a break from her. Rude nuse came in in a hurry for that but when I asked the nurse why my mom was still waiting for her nurse to help her to the bathroom she studdered and said she was busy. But If my mom refused therapy the nurses and therapist was happy they never encourage her to do anything. The nurses was very rude and made my mom lay in a dirty bed for hours and told me they only got a shower once a week. I think all patients should have a shower at least every other day. I have walked in the last 2 times and seen nurses yelling at patients and I always tell my mom I don't care where you are at if anyone starts yelling at you stay calm and call me I will be their. If I ever catch the nurses yelling at my mom I will punch them right their. I could tell you so much about this place
I just want everyone to know this place sucks. My dad was sent there a week after his hip surgery. Of course he refuse PT but that doesn’t excuse them from doing their job and taking care of him. They sent him home 3 weeks later in his hospital gown, and a sheet. Didn’t give us any supplies. Ambulance brought him home but they left without discharge papers. Daughter being a nurse went back to get it and got supplies. He ended up going back to hospital same day 10/1 after they brought him home. Now he has been discharged from hospital, brought home. Had social worker help me change him this morning and he’s been saying ow ow ow when lightly touched. When she did a test, he was holding her hand and she rubbed it very lightly and he said ow, ow , ow. His skin is breaking down and it probably started at this place fir they didn’t take care of him like they were suppose too.
Brought my mother home today. Was not pleased with her care at all. She has dementia and needs assistance with personal hygiene and Nursing staff was not friendly what so ever. Communication from staff to families is very poor. I ask questions nobody knew anything. Several times I went there different times and all they had her in was a hospital gown and I complained every time, her teeth was not clean .... I have hip issues and can not walk long distances and I have a mobility scooter that I use and nurse told me I was not allowed to bring inside to see my mother which is discrimination that's the only way I can get around .I hope I don't ever have to have her in any facility but if I do it sure won't be there
I didn't choose this place. I was sent by Blount Memorial Hospital because they are connected. I had a hip replacement. They stuck me in a room for 2 with so much stuff I couldn't move around in a wheel chair The administration didn't have a clue about my insurance. They tried to discharge me saying my insurance wasn't paying I called insurance company. They said care center said therapist said I reach my goals Therapist denied. I appealed with Mhedcare and won. There was so much COVID 1/2 the staff went home. They kept letting guests come in and it became a real hot spot.
Had one Iof the worst experience of my life. I had not had my boosters and I was not allowed out of my room for 17 days. No shower therapy nothing. They are short handed. Don't get me started on the food mystery meat I would not want my worst enemy to endure what I did the left hand doesn't know what right is doing.
I would give this place a zero if I could. My mother broke her hip and needed therapy. She has end stage copd and has special needs, like oxygen, all the time. She has called me a couple of times asking me to come hook her air back up, I said use your nurse call button they could be there before me, and she said I have they won't come. I have personally enetered the room and her air not be hooked up from where she would have a breathing treatment and they have forgot to turn her air back on. I have had a few phone calls from her asking me to come help her to the bathroom because she has been waiting thirty minutes or more and I have also personally witnessed it take this long. The therapist there are pretty good, but the care from the nurses is absolutely horrendous. And administration could care less. I am just shocked at how poorly run this facility is. Do not send your loved ones here if you care at all about the type of care they will receive. I also have to throw this in here, I think the people leaving it 5 stars are the people who work there trying to get the score up. There's no way, with what I've seen of my mother and other patients there that someone would leave a five. But if they did and got good care then I'm glad for them, however, I doubt that is the case.
The staff is extremely professional. From rehab to nursing, everyone I have encountered has been efficient, good at thier job, caring and very patient with all the patients. My family has been treated with respect and dignity. For that we are truly thankful to all the staff at Morning View. After another week here at Morning View, I really do not have the words to express the gratitude and respect I have for these staff members. Thank you all so so much for all that you do for these elderly people. Your expertise is surpassed only by your patients and kindness. Heres to you!
My mom spent over 2 weeks in there and the staff was wonderful with her. The only problem I could see was they served the same breakfast every day and it was always cold. We mentioned it but nothing was done to correct it so I started bringing her breakfast because she just couldn't eat it. I think they could work on the quality of the food and to make sure it was hot when the patients received it.
