Dr. Cherrone found that the “one size fits all” approach to treatment in conventional medicine often failed to adequately search for and address the underlying cause of symptoms. For this reason, she chose to study and then establish her Functional Medicine practice. Functional Medicine is a science-based approach to health care that involves looking at each patient as a whole being with interconnected systems which function best when they are all in balance. Patient assessment is comprehensive and focuses on the biochemical and psychosocial uniqueness of each individual. Functional Medicine testing allows for in depth exploration of the possible root cause or causes of symptoms and/or dis-ease. The philosophy of Functional Medicine is to prevent and treat complex chronic dis-ease as well as to promote optimal health and well being in those who are not ill. Chronic dis-ease and symptoms are often a direct result of lifestyle choices. Examining and bolstering the foundations of health namely, adequate nutrition, sleep, movement and managing exposure to stress and environmental toxins are essential. The ultimate goal of Functional Medicine is to have the best possible health and vitality well into old age.’
“My goal is to have every person wake up each morning full of energy and vitality to pursue the life of their dreams,” says Dr. Cherrone.
