A great place for train and transportation enthusiasts, young and old!
The New York Museum of Transportation is located just south of Rochester, NY. It's open Sundays only, from 11am til 5pm.
The museum is a unique resource, providing a wealth of historical information for students and hours of delight and education for visitors of all ages. Through our historic vehicles and photographs, trolley rides and track car rides, and model railroad displays, research library and gift shop, the museum's dedicated volunteers honor our area's transportation history, bringing it to life for today's visitors and preserving it for the future.
During the ride season (mid-May through October), enjoy a scenic 2-mile round trip on an interurban trolley car, connecting to a diesel train or track car to take you to the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. The trolley departs every half hour from 11:30 to 4:30. No reservations are needed.
Two museums and a ride between them...unique in the U.S.A.!
A visit to NYMT is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Group visits can be arranged by appointment on other days.
