Oakdale OB came very highly recommended to us by lots of friends that have come here. The midwives at Oakdale OB were absolutely fantastic. They listened to all of our questions and concerns and followed up in a manner where we felt heard and left each appointment happy and knowledgeable in what was to come. Being first time parents and going through your first Pregnancy can be kinda scary as your body changes and makes room for the growing babe, and they were great to us never making me feel bad for being concerned about something anytime I had a question. Brigitta K delivered our baby and she was fantastic. I loved our delivery process so much because she was so great to us. Oakdale delivers at maple grove hospital and their labor and delivery team is also great! We had a really good experience all around.
This is my first one, and currently I am at my 37 weeks and 4 days. I had a great experience with Oakdale until today's visit. First, the nurse who checked my blood pressure and weight in Maple Grove clinic was cold and unfriendly. She did not even ask me about any questions for the provider. Second, the midwife was friendly overall, but I was surprised at her long fingernails. Her nail polish is cute, but, her long nails hurt me when doing the cervical exam. I'm surprised that midwifes are allowed to have long fingernails. Can anyone tell me that if that's a good practice for midwifes to grow their nails? I would think it can hurt patients when they stick their fingers in to check the cervix... Cervical exam is already uncomfortable with feeling pressured. With long finger nails poking your cervix, it's really really painful.
I cannot say enough great things about this practice. Each and every doctor/nurse/staff member there goes above and beyond for each patient to be sure they are getting the best care possible. I specifically see Dr. Taryn McEvoy and she is the greatest. There is nobody I would recommend more. She listens to each patient, gives great advice and is a huge advocate for her patient. Again, I can't say enough about this practice as a whole. Each location is great.
I used to love this place, they were my OBGYN when I was pregnant. Because of how great they were, I went back to them when I felt a lump. They told me that I should get a mammogram so I did, for the first time ever and for the year. I found out it was normal afterwards And then I got the bill. Because I found the lump and brought it up to my doctor it is going to cost me $1000. Even though it is my first on ever and this year. If my doc would have found it it would have been free. I called and asked if we could switch the coding and they were like no, you found the lump. Even the imagining and insurance placed were willing to change the coding, by Oakdale would not. I am so mad I will never go back
Switched to Oakdale OBGYN around 32 weeks into my pregnancy from complications that required a change in care from the midwife-run birth center I was previously getting my care at. I am now 5 months postpartum and I have been very pleased with my care from the entire team, both prenatal, delivery, postnatal care, and general GYN appointments/needs. The staff is professional, caring, compassionate, and honestly listens to my concerns, questions, and goals. Working through a prenatal care and birth experience/plan shift that late in my pregnancy was emotionally and mentally draining. The staff of nurses, midwives, and doctors honestly made me feel comfortable and like I was being seen as a person, not just another patient. I would whole-heartedly recommend anyone to Oakdale OBGYN for prenatal, birth, postpartum, and non-pregnancy GYN needs.
Bri Hoffman is such a caring and compassionate provider. She makes me feel calm and comfortable during our visits and truly listens to my concerns. I would highly recommend Bri and the entire staff at Oakdale OBGYN!
I had a great first visit with this group, but as my pregnancy progressed i was feeling unheard by the providers. I was talked down to a few times in regards to a few vaccines that i would love to get but weren’t okayed for by my Multiple Sclerosis neurologist. Then i had a headache that landed me at the maple grove hospital at 31weeks pregnant. No protein was detected in my urine so I was sent home. I had a very high blood pressure reading the following night and I went to the hospital again, I was monitored for a couple hours and Protein was detected in my urine. Nothing was done and I wasn’t kept for observation and was sent home that night. I did not feel good and I didn’t feel OK being sent home the doctor On call didn’t even bother to come in and talk to me as they told me they were very busy with deliveries. The nurse relayed the message and the doctor felt confident that I can last until Friday which was the day I had an ultrasound and an appointment. The following night I ended up with an even higher blood pressure reading I call to speak to the on-call OB/GYN and she told me that Maple Grove Hospital is at Full capacity and can’t take me without suggesting any other hospitals to go to. I ended up calling the hospitals nearby to see if anyone can take me and a lovely nurse from Methodist ended up calling Southdale Fairview Hospital and they took me in and were scared for my blood pressure readings. By the time I got to the hospital I was at stroke/seizure levels. I was admitted right away for 24 hours and was told to communicate with my OB office to let them know what is going on and if they would want me to go to the Maple Grove Hospital to stay there and deliver there. I called the next morning letting The on-call nurse know what is going on so she can communicate that with the OB and she said she would let the doctor know and to except a call back but the doctor never called me back. Not only was it scary to go through severe preeclampsia with my first pregnancy but I felt very unsafe knowing that I wasn’t gonna have the same providers that I chose in the beginning of my pregnancy, I will do more than just a Google review to make sure that this doesn’t happen to another mother because by the time I got to the hospital I could have very well had a seizure or had a stroke and delivered a sleeping baby. I unfortunately recommended this group to a family member but made sure to let her know not to continue care after my experience.
Simply the best obgyn in the area. The doctors and midwives listen and actually care about your concerns and queries. I'll never go to another ob as long as these doctors are here. :
This is my 1st pregnancy & being with Oakdale has been wonderful so far. Brianna & Debra are really helpful, caring & make every effort to make u feel comfortable. Update :: In our recent visit we have been seeing a new midwife, Britta, she is wonderful too.
I saw Oakdale’s Midwife group throughout my pregnancy. At my last appointment I had a couple high blood pressures so I was asked to go over to triage at Maple Grove Hospital for some labs. While there, my blood pressures remained elevated but were gradually coming down, and there was no protein identified in my urine. My husband and I preferred to go home and take a couple more blood pressures to see if the high ones were anxiety induced. I felt very passionate about allowing my daughter to come when she was ready and since my labs were still okay, I thought waiting a few more hours was reasonable. The midwife Katy S. continued to push me to be induced saying ‘’what is the end goal?’’ Basically implying that as long as I birthed my baby who cares how it happened. Birth experience absolutely matters. She also listened to the nurse tell me, ‘’there is no reason for your baby to be inside you anymore anyway.’’ This was extremely offensive to me as I believe in a woman’s biological ability to birth a child without assistance the majority of the time. I was 40 weeks and ONE day! We decided to consult with another midwife group and they agreed that induction was premature. My husband and I ended up leaving. We took my blood pressures every hour throughout the night and they were ALL normal he is an ER nurse and takes manual blood pressures on a regular basis. I ended up going into labor on my own within 12 hours and was able to dilate to a 10 without being induced as I hoped to. My blood pressures remained acceptable with no sign of preeclampsia the entire time. This is a perfect example of why there is not a ‘’one size fits all’’ and mothers should trust in themselves. I knew that the high blood pressures were related to anxiety but I was being told that I had gestational hypertension and needed to be induced asap. I did not feel heard and felt zero compassion from Katy. Even though the midwife who ended up helping me through labor Annie L was wonderful, I cannot recommend Oakdale for the lack of compassion we received from Katy S. It started out our birth experience in a very negative way and that is a memory I will never get back. There are so many wonderful providers out there. If you believe in the natural birth process, I would go elsewhere for care.
