Fabulous tasting, nutritious bread that just happens to be gluten free!
Susan Freeman Weiner conceived of Orange Dot Baking Company to generate local employment while producing a healthy, flavorful alternative to existing high-glycemic, gluten-free breads.
Inspired by a poverty report in her hometown of Charlottesville, VA, the Orange Dot Report, Susan created a company to foster entry level employment. An avid, healthful and gluten-free cook, Susan enjoys her dream job -- much to the delight of her celiac son, Andrew.
Launched in December, 2015, in Susan’s private gluten-free kitchen, Orange Dot Baking Company produces eight varieties of hearty, gluten free bread: Plain Delicious; Rustic Rosemary; Tasty Tuscan; Sante Fe Savory; Everything Better; Chocolate Chip; Cinnamon Raisin; and Super-Seeded. All are deliciously satisfying; moist, dense and chewy, high in protein, with no unpleasant xanthan or guar gum. You can find Orange Dot breads everyday at Firefly Restaurant, Hunt Country Market, and on Saturday mornings at Charlottesville's Farmer’s Market.
The launch of Orange Dot Baking Company has been a communal event. Susan is grateful to family, friends and colleagues in the Charlottesville foodie community for their encouragement, help and support in opening Orange Dot.
