Our truck battery died the first night. We had to call AAA for a jump and were told that the battery only had 4 volts. We called customer service and tried getting a vehicle replacement only to be transferred multiple times having to explain our situation. Finally, we were told we could only return it to the airport. We kept the vehicle to avoid interruption of our vacation and it died again the morning of our departure. Once again, we had to call AAA for a jump start. We almost didn’t make our flight. I will NEVER recommend or rent from Payless again.
I read the reviews and was worried, and everyone was unfortunately correct. I waited an hour and a half in line to get to the front desk, even though I had a reservation. In fact, my res was for 11:30pm, and I finally got the keys and walked thru the whole garage to pick up the car around 12:45pm. I still had a whole nother hour to get to my hotel! And when I got to the desk, they say they're out of cars! So they had to give me a truck - btw, I'm used to driving a 4-door sedan. I will say though, the guy at the front desk was really nice - the truck "upgrade" was at no cost, and he allowed me to add another driver for free as well, since I was not comfortable driving a massive pick up.
Avoid. Booked a rental yesterday and they told me if you don’t book 24 hours in advance they will not honor. They say there is no booking but I already paid for it. So getting a refund has been a nightmare.
Very fast and friendly staff at NOLA . Rental vehicle was clean and available and check in and check out service was super easy! They do charge a $200 hold on credit card but dropped off as soon as car was checked in and we turned vehicle in the night before it was due so my bill was even less so i was very pleased with that... Would definitely use again!
Honestly, the personnel service during the holidays was outstanding, but it is unbelievable that the company continued allowing rentals without having cars for rent. The front desk did the impossible to get us a car,with other customers upset as well. The signs at the airport needs improvement it isn’t clear the signs to deliver the car to the right garage. Furthermore, if you deliver the car in the wrong garage you will be charged $20.00 fee as a tip from the other dealers personnel enterprise to drive the car to the right garage. This is unacceptable, having the lady waving us to cross the gate knowing that our car it wasn't part of that garage with the purpose to charge us the illegal fee!
Impossible to reach a human at this location. I have a rental for a week and the driver window won't close. I'm 3 hours away and just want to find out if you have cars available. The 800 support transfers me endlessly. Terrible terrible support.
If I could give them negative stars, I would. First, I chose the car and did a prepayment. Upon arrival, they said they don't have the car and they aren't honoring any reservations less than 9 days long. I asked for the manager and he was the most disrespectful and unprofessional encounter I've ever experienced during a rental transaction. He was rude, uncaring, and refused to take Any accountability. He tried to blame me bc I "should've booked earlier". Then when I asked for a refund for the almost $500 prepayment, he said that's not his problem because he didn't take my money, corporate did. Then I told him I'm not leaving until I get some type of resolution, either the car or my money, he said either leave or he'll call the police and tell them I'm harassing him. I eventually got through to corporate for a refund but I will never again use this con.
We had a car reserved here after we got off our flight into NOLA. The car was nice enough, even though it was overpriced. Make sure you have an actual credit card for any of the car rental agencies, as a debit card will require you to do a background check. Thankfully we had one, but others did not and were turned away.
Staff could be friendlier. You will be charged for the gas that you don’t actually use. Pay and pump yourself.
We had an excellent experience with Payless at New Orleans Airport. First, all rental cars are offsite and together. Payless is owned by Budget and Avis they merged years ago and then bought Payless. They are all at one counter. The shuttle bus right outside baggage claim and you’re there in 12 or so minutes. We had no wait as there were plenty of people working. From the counter, you go down stairs and outside into a big parking garage and directly to your car. Keys were in it! Returning it was a breeze. Drive in, they direct you where to park, leave keys in it and jump back on the shuttle back to the airport. We had a 2020 Ford Focus which was spotless, clean and sanitized on the inside. Not super clean on the outside but we were expecting rain so that was fine. We’d do this again!
