Let’s start with the good: we stayed in site #5 it was a beautiful site, and best of all we had the whole campground to ourselves. The dogs loved swimming in the lake which was easy to access. The bad: the water from the pump was yellow and not drinkable, our friend took a very small handful and ended up sick. The fire pits are dug in ground and very dangerous for dogs and young children. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, if you are in sites 7 or 8 you smelled it all day. I’m pretty sure they have not been cleaned all season . Also you get constant golf carts driving through here from the neighborhood. We will not be coming back! We will drive back up to our favorite campground Bay View!
Price is right. It's on a lake. One of 7 here there is a beach close to site 8...we were at 7. And close to Tawas, on Lake Huron. Bathrooms are just port-a-potties. Water pump available, but I wouldn't advise using it for drinking. There is a dumpster. Right beside Sand Lake.
Beautiful campground right on the lake. Great views right from our campsite. Pit potties were as clean as possible. Hand pump for water which kinda looks like ginger ale. Paved road and aprons in each site. Only issue is rule enforcement. Rule 2 , campsite must be occupied first night. The two pictured just dropped and ran. No sign of them since. Either the rules don't apply to them, or they are not enforced. Unfair to campers who play by the rules. Hope they aren't the "loud generator all night" types.
No rangers anywhere in site. Thus the overcrowded sites with six, yes 6 vehicles and the running of loud generators after the 10 pm quiet hour limit goes on uncontrolled.
Man, this is a hidden secret of a park. It's neat and tidy, with these terrific sand bottom lakes. It's only 12 miles from Tawas and close to both water and off-road recreation options. Fishing, snowmobiling, ORV, Kite boarding, you name it. If you are looking for a primitive campground and only need a well and a pit potty, this is a good option. Campsites all have asphalt pads for campers and the road into the campground is paved the whole way.
This turned out to be a very nice find. No utilities but they have fresh water, vault toilets, a trash dumpster and very large private sites. Great find!!
We drove a long way to this campsite and it did not disappoint. Active during the day and quiet at night. Easy access to Tawas City if you need something or feel like chowing down at a restaurant.
Great place if you like listening to generators run all night. We got here and there were several sites that just had a single tent in them with nobody staying there for a day until someone pulled in with a big camper and started there generator up. The tent was just to save the spot, so it's actually not first come first serve, it's whoever pays first and it doesn't matter if you actually stay there or not. I wouldn't call this place rustic and wouldn't recommend it for tent campers more of a better have a generator running so you can't hear your neighbors running kind of place.
Very upset! We made the reservation months in advance so we had a choice of just about any site we wanted. The picture on the website for site 9 showed a beautiful Lake View lot, NOT- it is fully wooded on the back of a hill with NO view of the water, it is also directly across the street from the outhouse doors banging at all hours and people constantly walking around our campsite. The biggest complaint is we were deliberately decieved.
Very nice camp. Very quiet and underutilized during the week, absolutely packed weekends. Only one group was loud, but a bunch of kids doing kid things. It seemed to be a birthday weekend. Not a problem. Walk to beach is too long for Grandma. Few mosquitoes -- yippee! Nicely wooded with pine and oak. Good distance between sites. We will return.
