Select Specialty Hospital (Pontiac, MI)

Taura, my mother's caseworker at Select was a joy to work with. Such a support. Many great CNA and nursing staff. Sierra and Rhaunda....we miss you already ladies!!!

This is a very nice place and everyone was pleasant and helpful here. I was here overnight. Great private room. I had probably 50 people touching me at some point over the two days and not one person was rude. As hospitals go, they bother you every half hour for something. I asked to be left alone from 11-6 and they did. My daughter was with me and the chairs and desk converted into a bed for her. The downstairs was insane with large fireplace built in and art work etc. just beautiful.

When I arrived, I was on the ventilator and a feeding tube. I had no feeling from the chest down. I am now breathing on my own, eating regular food, and can use both my arms and legs. The staff at select Pontiac has been incredible in assisting with my recovery! They have been kind, compassionate and knowledgeable in helping me to heal. I will be forever grateful to the staff and physicians at Select Specialty Pontiac for their role in this journey toward health! Thank you for helping me reach my goals!

This was an absolutely wonderful experience for both patient and our family!! It was such a comforting place to recover. Staff was always pleasant, helpful and responsive! Would absolutely recommend this hospital for anyone who has similar needs. A sincere thank you to all those who worked so hard and played a role in my successful recovery! I’m overjoyed to be going home to my family and will be ever grateful!!

If I could give a below zero rating I would. This place is absolutely horrible. They are negligent and are not truthful with the family of their isolation patients. My Mom was isolated for 21 days. I never could speak to her when I called either her cellphone or her room phone. I asked the nurses daily why my mom was not answering either of her phones and was always told they would check into it but never gave me an answer. They told me that she was doing well, sitting up, eating well and was alert. They never had the the telemedicine Care plan meeting that they said we would have when she was admitted. When I got to go see her after her isolation period was done I was shocked at how I found her. She was not able to speak, she was so thin and weak and frail. Her white board was dated for three days prior. Her cell phone was on DND in her purse across the room and her room phone was up on top of all of the equipment that is above her head board completely out of reach. Dr. Rizzo told me that she was doing great and just needed some physical therapy to get back on her feet. I was furious and demanded blood work and a scan of her body because there was definitely something more wrong with her. I received a call about 4 hours later informing me that she had pneumonia and sepsis and would not make it. She passed the next day. They killed my mother. There's more but I don't have the ability to share it with you on here. I would not recommend this evil place to anyone.

While I was at select specialty pontiac, the care I received was second to none. From the doctors to the nurses to the nurse aides and auxiliary staff, everyone accommodated me more than I could've imagined. I would totally recommend select pontiac to anyone who is seeking terrific care for their loved ones.

Pontiac Specialty was a excellent facility for my husband.When he arrived he had a tract and not alert They got him off the tract and his health improved drastically. The nurses and doctors were excellent with his care.The social worker helped me to win a appeal,after the insurance denied my husband rehab stay.I would recommend this facility to anyone looking to get good care for their love one.

I would not even send my dog to this place. Poor nursing staff as well as the medical assistance. Sitting in my bowel movement for over 3 yours. Missed several meals as they were brought up from the kitchen but nurses or staff failed to deliver the meals to me Kitchen staff was not allowed to bring it to the room, sat in the cart on the floor. . Missed several dinners, and breakfast. Treated me like I was a 2 year old. I tried to get transferred but was told I could not because the insurance wouldn't pay for me to go to another LTAC until I could be discharged to a rehab. I am not going to keep going with all that was not acceptable for a humane, but so much more happened. Wouldn't even give this facility a one star, maybe a minus 1star. Had to pick a star to post this comment.

Choosing Select Specialty of Pontiac for long term acute care after a month in ICU with acute respiratory failure from COVID was a life-saving decision. Although my husband was stable enough to be discharged from ICU after a near death experience, he was still on ventilator support and having difficulty with reduced sedation. I was very anxious about what I perceived as a step down in care while he still was not conscious enough to communicate his needs and no visitation was allowed at the time. Based on a day’s worth of research, a few positive comments from friends of friends and an encouraging Google review from a former patient who overcame COVID and a ventilator just 4 months prior, I decided to put my faith in Select Specialty. My husband was assigned a medical team to focus on his care in all areas of recovery including nursing, respiratory, pulmonary, dietary, OT and PT, and wound care. This team was available to me to answer any questions or concerns. Select Specialty took an aggressive approach to reducing sedation and weaning him from the ventilator. They not only successfully addressed his medical challenges, but the incredible team was genuinely caring and helped him psychologically too. it seemed the right person was always with him at the right time to coach him through the mental effects of being on a ventilator. After a total of 63 days in ICU, LTAC and in patient Rehab, my husband came home and was back to work and on the golf course just 2 months later. Select Specialty’s professional expertise played a huge role in making this possible and keeping our family whole.

The most caring and respectful hospital that I have ever experienced. They provide the utmost professional and thoughtful care. They have gone above and beyond the duties required. They are prompt in meeting my needs at any time.
