Very different kind of kayak launch! I probably didn’t know how to use it properly, but I did find it more difficult to get the kayak in and out. However, it was way more stable for people to get in and out of the kayak. Lots of free parking. At 7am, the bathrooms were locked, and the two out houses didn’t have toilet paper, so you may want to plan for that! The waters were like glass most of the paddle! There wasn’t a strong current, small breezes, and like no shade so a hat and sunscreen were a must! Very cool to paddle through the mangroves. Saw lots of birds and some fish and crabs along the way.
Really nice park, it's not a big park but it's a nice one. Few good open clean fishing spots and plenty of nice scenery. Picnic area: Plenty of open spaces with lots of breeze and sun
We didn't see any manatees. This is a cute little park. The parking lot is a little weird. There is a kayak ramp, which is right up my alley. I will definitely be back to try that out. There was a very good amount of people using the waterways. Some of the more sizable boats fitting thru there was quite surprising. They have a nice walking path. Quite a few little "lookouts" over the water.
Super handy kayak launch in great shape. Nice parking. Will be 5 stars once the new restrooms open promised this summer.
Great place to launch the kayak from!! Plenty of parking and there's bathrooms. It's a short paddle out to the preserve through the canal where you can spot manatees. The fishing is good. There's some oyster beds and a mixture of sand/grass flats. Plenty of wildlife and mangrove tunnels to explore. I'll be back. I managed to catch a nice snook while fishing.
Nice walking loop and butterfly garden. Has a lot of sun exposure though. Bring a hat and water.
We had a wonderful day enjoying the water and watching the birds. We rented a tandem kayak, a single kayak and a stand up paddle board from a local company. Even the dog had a wonderful time. Very peaceful and quiet and very enjoyable.
Under construction as of 7/2023. Cute park with a small walking path and a couple of viewing areas. There’s a kayak launch and a place to fish. You can see manatees in cooler weather. Theoretically. There’s a lot of overgrown vegetation that prevents you from seeing much of anything. Parking lot isn’t paved and the redesign is kind of… well, bad. They’re adding Modular bathrooms. There’s a free little library at this location. Restrooms: They’re installing some bathrooms. Didn’t seem completed yet. Picnic area: Not covered since the hurricane
Absolutely loved this launch point, and ease of getting out on the kayak! Beautiful area
We went here for the kayak launch to do some paddle boarding. We were a bit nervous with the boats in the canal, mostly due to the 4 kids with us. However, once we got into the mangroves less than 400m away, it was great. Very relaxing, easy paddling and shallow water so not if, but when, someone fell in recovery was very easy. Saw plenty of fish jumping around and a few snakes as well. Overall, a great area to venture out in. There's a small park and fishing pier as well but we didn't really scope that out.
