Worst hospital I have ever been too. Go somewhere else. We were sent here with our newborn at 1 AM, since it was the closest ER to home that could help newborns at that time of day. At least we thought they could. The staff straight up admitted to not being pediatric doctors who don’t work on babies and that we weren’t in the right place for this but that they would do it anyways. If you aren’t qualified, don’t volunteer. The entire staff was extremely rude in the ER. The front desk lady wouldn’t even talk to us and didn’t take anything we said seriously. When she finally did talk, she just Kept talking about her grandson rather than checking us in so we could get in as soon as possible. The nurses were all goofing off and laughing down the hall while we sat in the exam room with no answers for what was wrong with our 19 day old son. The rooms themselves were disgusting, used needles in the open trash can, used IV bags in the same trash can, blood stains all over the sheets on the bed, etc. They had the nerve to allow a newborn child, someone who is prone to sickness to be checked out in those rooms. We also heard the doctor yell at the only nurse that actually helped us because he placed us in a room that hadn’t been cleaned yet. then the worst part, the doctor. So rude and disrespectful, and no help at all. Just kept talking about herself and her own experiences. In a time of emergency, we needed help and this place couldn’t even talk to us correctly, let alone actually take care of us. If you are in need of actually help, this is not the place.
These nurses are the Greatest. The personal one on one care is fantastic. I was part of the Pulmonary Rehab. for 32 visits. Day one....2 minutes on the treadmill, my oxygen bottomed. This was my greatest challenge. After working hard at this problem, visit #28 I was able to do 20 minutes on the treadmill. I praise the Lord and give the nurses credit for their hard work. Thank You from the bottom of my heart, for helping me get my health back.
I went to the ER in excruciating pain with a kidney stone. I was the only patient in the waiting room when I arrived. I waited 7 hours and was never seen. There were people in the waiting room crying in pain and one person felt like they had a stroke, yet were sitting for hours. I ended up leaving to go elsewhere. I would not recommend this ER to anyone. I have never felt so ignored and mistreated! I complained to patient services and was told they will work on training for the employees.
My experience was with night shift emergency room. They Lacked empathy and bed side manor. We were treated poorly! I hope, I never ever have to go here again! I will be driving further to a more sofisticated hospital where the Doctors and nurses actually care about the patients! I must note that the lady at sign in was very nice and the Lady officer was very nice and helpful. I do appreciate their kindness and helpfulness in a very difficult situation when others were being so rude.
Went to Sumner Regional for an Infusion for the COVID. Nurses and doctor were very professional and polite. So glad we went there, Infusion is a miracle drug, only had COVID symptoms for 3 days, I am 60 with underlying medical conditions. Thanks for the excellent service. St Thomas West could not / would not give Infusion the same day. If you live anywhere near Sumner Regional, go there for quality treatment! A big shout out to Katie!
We were absolutely thrilled with the service. The nurses and Doctor took excellent care to protect a broken bone. They acted like the patient was a friend rather than a job to get done.
I could have my arm hanging on by a thread and would still drive the extra 20 or 30 minutes to ANY OTHER HOSPITAL! I came to Sumner Sunday morning at 8:50am because I could not breathe AT ALL. I have terrible asthma and have been through this countless of times, but usually at Hendersonville’s hospital. I was in the regular ER room for 17 and a half hours and was uncomfortable and could not breathe the ENTIRE 17 AND A HALF HOURS. They let me know I had the flu, which is why my asthma was so bad. They kept giving me breathing treatments which were clearly not working and were acting like they couldn’t do much. They said they were going to keep me and were just waiting on a room. I was told I would have a room by 4, then 6 and then 10. Once I saw it was almost 3 in the morning, I was still not in an actual room and my breathing was still VERY LABORED. I then showed I was annoyed and asked that I be transferred and they told me it would be about an hour. I was transferred to Vanderbilt Wilson County because apparently Hendersonville had no rooms either. I got to the hospital in Lebanon and before they even gave me anything, it was like I was already starting to feel better. They were absolutely amazing and controlled my breathing almost immediately!
My mom stayed in the ER from 10 pm Friday when she arrived until 9 pm Saturday night on that hard ambulance cot until she finally got a room. The very young and inexperienced male nurse did an awful job with getting an IV in her arm and blood was all on the floor. It ultimately blew. He should rethink a career in nursing because he lacks the patience that comes with the stress. He was rattled all night. The final straw was the next night when he came back and was rude to my mom and again was trying to draw blood out of the IV and pulled and tugged on her arm causing her to yell out in pain. He was clearly stressed and said, something like I am not used to giving this kind of care in the ER. The day ER nurse named Jay on the other hand was FANTASTIC. He was caring and also faced a lot of stress with TONS of ER patients but he was super helpful and kind. When we finally got her a room, it got a lot better. Her nurses and techs and PTs are awesome. Shout out to Natalie, Jode, and especially Blake, all on the 4th floor. Thank you! I know that overcrowding and lack of staff is a problem everywhere I’m told, and I am understanding of that, but I am not understanding of how that nurse treated my mom.
As an individual in healthcare leadership, I’m honestly so disappointed in the staff and presentation of this ED. 1. Night shift: The nurse I want to say her name was kathy was so sweet and phenomenal. The doctor? Beyond arrogant, short worded, and dismissive. Ultrasound tech was great though! Only complaint I have is that no pain meds were given for a couple of hours while she was screaming in agony. 2. Day shift: ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Vials were left on the counter with open syringes every where. Trash was filled to the brim. We were transferred to a bed in the back with no cell service or call button for her to push. That means we couldn’t leave her because no nurses were rounding on that side or sitting over there. She did not see a doctor for almost 24 hours there. No one checked on her so I had to help her transfer from bed to chair or the bathroom chair. Thankful that I have years of caregiving experience. They also kept giving dilaudid knowing her BP was already very low. She finally saw a doctor after we complained about it several times. 3: Meds: We had multiple issues getting my mother the medication she needed to control her pain. She does not ever want pain medication like that but she was literally crying and screaming. We didn’t have much choice coming here. Moving forward… this will not be where my family is treated for emergencies. EVER AGAIN. If I have to get them transported to one of my companies hospitals, I will. This was absolutely PATHETIC.
One star because I couldn't leave no stars. Was brought in by ambulance er staff was horrible. After being there a couple hours I asked to go to the bathroom due to breathing issues I said I couldn't walk to it the nurse pointed out the door and said it's literally right there as I stood in door way gasping she said it again . Then finally asked if I wanted the bed side commode. Couple more hours I ask for a drink of water was told no I had already been in er for over 8 hours. After being admitted for 6 days it didn't get much better
