I recently had lunch at Bocuse. The menu is prefixed. There are a lot of great choices for appetizers. However, there is only one vegetarian selection for the main course. My husband liked the lamb shoulder. We waited for a very long time for the dessert. The puff pastry was burnt on mine. I liked that they have 3 types of pressed coffee to choose from. We also ordered a bottle of Shiraz for the meal. The red wine was chilled. Therefore, it was not as aromatic as we preferred. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are limited Parking: Parking is just across the street from the restaurant.
As always dining at any of the CIA restaurants is a real treat. Bocuse is French inspired in a lovely art deco ambiance. Service was attentive and informative. The salmon dish I ordered had ran out but they were able to do the fish of the day arctic char in the same style. Yum! The students are so eager to please and accommodate and endlessly explain the food, it’s preparation etc. They will even print out recipes if you ask. Only slight criticism is they are a bit to eager to clear the plates. My husband eats quickly and I am slow. I still regret the few morsels from my fish that were whisked away, albeit with my permission . Don’t wait for a special occasion, just go! You will be very happy you did!
Fantastic restaurant and experience for date night. My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout France and this would make any French person happy if eating here. The students do an exceptional job in waiting and serving as well as the most important part, cooking. The truffle soup is fantastic. The first time I had this was at Monsieur Paul in the French part of Epcot at Disney world years ago. As this was one of Chef Paul Bocuse’s recipes I had high expectations and I wasn’t let down. My wife had the endive salad starter, followed by a buckwheat pasta dish and rhubarb soup dessert, all delicious. After my truffle soup starter, I had the Berkshire pork chop with a cognac and rosemary sauce and a poached merengue, creme Anglais, soft caramel and toasted almond dessert. We were also exited that they had Cidre from Normandy to have with dinner. All in all a fantastic night and look forward to coming back hopefully sooner rather than later.
Amazing service and food! The staff/students were so polite and had great attention to detail for the food and guests. Highly recommend the duck breast for entree and chocolate for dessert. They added a wonderful touch for my husband's birthday. Absolutely loved it here and will be visiting again. Make sure to stop by the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe to pick up some to go desserts and pastries! We went during the winter deal. An incredible price for a fine dining experience!
This place deserves a 10 star. AMAZING food, perfectly cooked meats, balanced flavors for all three courses. Outstanding pricing for such good food $59 for three course dinner!. Waiters/students are so adorable, their diligence is reflected with the service we got today. I'd like to shout out especially to the main courses. We ordered the maple leaf duck breast, beef short ribs, and market fish. The meats were cooked to such perfection, it was astounding that students made them well, of course under the instructions of a well known chef, but still surprising. The temperature spread across the meat, the tenderness, the timing, all resulted in meats that were neither overcooked nor undercooked, not even slightly. Flavors were also on point, and there's always something on the plate to counterbalance the main flavor for example, the sourness of the veggies complements the sweet and savory duck so well. Just wow. And can we talk about how adorable the waiters/waitresses are all are supposedly CIA students, so around 18-22 years old?. Some of their actions are slower and feel more inexperienced than the typically older waitresses at high end restaurants, but the way they gently put down the plates/ sets the bread, and how a waiter confused the direction of the utensils and then briskly walked back to reset them, add such satisfactory details to this dining experience. It's cool to not just eat and enjoy, but witness the students LEARN through cooking and serving each customer.
A fabulous place at Culinary Institute of America, staffed by students at the college, both front and back of house. Enthusiastic, hard-working students, and a fabulous rotating menu.Food: 5/5
A delicious and rewarding experience in Hyde Park! Going to Bocuse at the CIA is a treat for any foodie looking to get a glimpse into the beginnings of talented chefs. Each of our 3 courses had something special. Our starter included the best crab cakes we've had: perfectly fried and full of flavor. My partner's main the fricassée was melt-in-your-mouth good. And my crepe cake with layers of mascarpone was the perfect way to end the meal. On top of that, the restaurant has a stacked wine cellar with many options for pairing.
Delicious and well-prepared French cuisine!Students are professional and passionate! It was a very impressive experience and worth a 2 hours trip from NYC.Food: 5/5
We loved our meal so much that we purchased a gift card in the same amount for our friend. We've been wanting to drive up here from the city for years and finally worked it in to a weekend trip Upstate. The campus is beautiful. The restaurant is special. Our server was amazing and she explained every dish. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back. Also- great for all seasons!
Update: we were back few months later. Had to make a reservation few months in advance. When we came at around 7:40pm they unfortunately were out of a lot of things. Yet everything we ordered was delicious!! The last 4 photos are from our second visit. My husband and I had a great experience at the restaurant the other day. We had three courses. Everything was delicious! The service was so professional and attentive to all the details. We enjoyed our time there and the food. From the appetizers to the desserts everything was great! Chocolate cake was melting in my mouth! The portions were big, I had to take some of the risotto home as I was full after the appetizers and I still wanted to try the dessert.
