Called office 4 times before I got a call back. Then lady says she would call me back 2.5 weeks ago before the holiday. This GI SPECIALIST IS A QUACK. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO ELSEWHERE. I have spent 17 years in Pharmaceuticals and was GI-CD Specialist prior to infections disease as an Executive hospital rep covering all of NC/SC. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SO-CALLED SPECIALIST. ONE OF THE PERSONNEL SAID the doc was a GI GUY not a liver specialist. Obviously she did not know LIVER SPECIALISTS COME FROM GI SPECIALTY. DUH!
Staff provides poor customer service to patients. I was treated as an after thought for a planned procedure. Spoken to as I if I were uneducated. Also, there is a serious lack of communication in proper timeliness. Nurse Crystal I believe that’s her name whom is the HNurseIC, let’s patients know what they should and should not be grateful for in the most disrespectful non-customer service friendly oriented way. I cannot speak for their skill set because I could not imagine having a procedure done with such lack of communication, explanation, and/or understanding of the symptoms my body was having. But it’s safe to say…I won’t be working with the GI Guy nor his team. The strangest thing is when I sat with him for the first time he told me to keep my old doctors because the ones in this area are not great. I wonder if he was including himself or his staff or both in that statement. Also, staff repeating yourself several times is not equivalent a good form of communication. Doing your job properly, communicating EFFECTIVELY for the patient to understand, and also reading your notes on the patients account before talking to the helps you communicate with your patients properly. Being timely….also communicating with the proper doctors before calling the client back all….LETS SAY IT TO TOGETHER….Provides PROPER AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION!!
My husband was in the hospital 2 wks. ago, and I was put in 1week ago. Both of our gastric issues could be very serious. Waiting on Hubby’s testing next week, but I was lucky enough to have mine done in the hospital before release. Dr. Vernon is by far the absolute best physician we have out of the numerous list we see. Kind, compassionate, direct and thoroughness with his whole being. Thank you Dr. Vernon for your professionalism and kind heart
While I like Dr. Vernon's personality, he had me confused with another patient before my procedure. I was told I'd get a call with my results after 10 business days. After three weeks I called and left a message, no return call. Another week later I called and no return call. One more week, one more call. Only after sending a firm email through the patient portal did I receive a call back. Good thing there was no infection or cancer. Fast forward a couple of months I've been having severe pain and once again no return call after leaving a message. Seems I am not the only one with this issue.
I was nervous,... but feel lucky to met nurse Cristal was very friendly and felt she is caring patients. Also, Doctor Kurt was very friendly and professional. Great people. Great experience. Thank you!
I had a great first time experience. The staff/nurses were very friendly & professional. And Dr. Kurt Vernon was amazing...they had me in & out in no time.
I was referred to this office, because my surgeons were booked. I called 11 Feb and spoke with Christine to schedule an appt. for possible returned hernia. She told me Dr. Kurtgvernon was in surgery and not sure if he repair recurring hernias. She said she would call me back Monday, Feb 14th. Well, today is 17th Feb and no call from office. I called today and reminded her that she was suppose to call me back Monday and she said oh, your the one with the hernia, so she clearly remembered me. I don't recommend anyone that have a life and death threatening situation to contact this office. Their actions shows they don't care about following up concerning your health. After reading some of the reviews about constant neglects from this office to follow up makes this company look bad and I decided to go elsewhere to get better care to save my life from another major emergency surgery.
I was seen by Dr. Kurt Vernon and staff several times in 2020. A few pieces of information that I think people should know is that I am woman and was 22/23 at the time of my visits and had been experiencing ongoing GI issues for several years that were not getting better. He was the second GI doctor I saw that year, out of three. My amazing PCP recommended him so I thought he’d be just as awesome, especially with such great reviews! That could not be further from the truth. I had an initial visit to establish myself as a patient and was soon after scheduled for an upper and lower endoscopy. The day of my procedure comes, I followed all directions, did not eat the day before, but was throwing up actual food the day of the procedure that my body had not digested for whatever reason, that’s what I was there to find out. I had a panic attack and was treated like a nuisance. I understand it’s inconvenient for a patient to “freak out” but as medical staff, you should know how to handle these situations properly. They ended up cancelling the procedure and accused me of eating after the cut off time. I did not eat and had to convince them of that. After getting them to believe me, they scheduled a telehealth visit and rescheduled my upper/lower procedure. During my telehealth appointment, I was speaking with him and emotionally expressing my concerns and symptoms and he flat out said “I don’t like seeing younger patients because they always think something is wrong when nothing really is.” And then laughed. He also tried to say it was all in my head due to previous my previous mental health issues. That comment completely destroyed any trust I had for this doctor. The appointment ended shortly after and I already decided that I needed a new doctor. I left a message for the office supervisor telling them about this and was assured it would be dealt with, I never received a call back from them. I told them I did not feel comfortable pursuing care with him, nobody ever reached out to follow up, which is pretty standard with any complaint like this. I ended up seeing a third doctor who completely changed my life. I am no longer sick and he took the time to hear my concerns and actually find a solution. That is also why I waited over a year to draft this review. I wanted to know for sure that he was wrong before posting this. It is very ironic to me that Dr. Vernon said nothing is ever wrong with young patients, yet my current doctor found that there actually was something wrong with me. Dr. Kurt Vernon falsely diagnosed me with several conditions, that I did not even have and **this was confirmed by my current GI doctor** Those diagnoses caused me to look for remedies for an illness I did not have. I had tests done that weren’t necessary and very traumatic for somebody like me, who has had several experiences with doctors like this over the years. Dr. Vernon misinformed and misdiagnosed me. His bedside manner is laughable, he is condescending and rude. When you feel like you’re dying because you can’t eat or drink and a doctor who is suppose to help you treats you this way, it’s very upsetting and honestly shocking. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but three strikes, you’re out. I cannot help but feel like I was discriminated against due to my age, gender, and mental health. If you are a young woman, look somewhere else because this ain’t it. A wise man once said “What do you call a doctor who graduated at the bottom of his class? A doctor” I suppose this must be the case with Dr. Vernon.
I had my first appointment with him at the beginning of September and will be having a procedure next week. I really liked Dr Vernon as his bedside manner is great and the staff is very friendly. I am hoping to remain a patient of his for a long time.
Have been going to see Dr. Vernon since 2016. He has saved my life. Has always treated me with respect and given me nothing but the best care. Both my wife and myself consider him family. Will always highly recommend.
