Awesome small-town theater. They allow adult beverages into the auditorium if purchased at the front. 4K projector donated by Grove City College kept them alive some years ago. The sound quality and video quality all around is honestly 5/10, but the overall experience is worth the price.
Bob Seger tribute band show. Was told by owner to reserve a table you need to prepay the $5 cover charge. We agreed and had 7 guests at the time. We reserved a table for 8. We needed to pay for 8 seats since it was a table that sat 8. We paid $40 and reserved the table we did get another person. We decided to go early and get a sandwich and drinks before the show. When we arrived we were told we need an additional $40 because the first $40 was only to reserve the table. Never have I paid $40 to reserve a table especially in a small bar/with a stage place. I wasn’t happy and explained that was not what he told us. The guests I had invited said it was ok and they started to pay the owner. I was still trying to figure it out with the owner and pay when he said “The attitude needs to change”. I would have walked out if it wasn’t for the others with me. Besides that, the beer was warm, they were short on help so no hamburgers very limited menu and three of the 8 seats were broke. The drummer even fell off his chair when it started. The restroom was not marked - who knows who could walk in. Extension cords ran throughout. Did not seem safe. We enjoyed the show but will not be returning to this place. Mainly due to owner. I really did not need treated the way I was. I don’t understand how this place is rated 4-5 star, but who knows. I do understand now why most of the place was empty. Our first and last time here.
This is about the new owner, Pat Artise, not the previous owners when this was a movie theater. All the prior good reviews here were from when this was a movie theater. I'd give negative 10000 stars if that were possible. The owner is rude to his staff as well as customers. No true professional would behave this poorly in public. I have never seen someone scream so much and be so rude and condescending to so many people in such a short time. If that’s the norm he won’t have staff or customers for long. I know I’ll never be back. The actual staff is great despite being yelled at and treated like children. Oh yeah, and the beer was warm. The Guthrie is a staple of Olde Town Grove City and I would absolutely love to support it, and tell everyone I know to do so, however, in good conscious, I cannot allow anyone to spend a single penny of their money here. In addition to being what I can only describe as a terrible human being, there are some quite shady business practices. Things have been given a facelift, but there are exposed wires, sagging ceilings, holes in walls, there were dirty restrooms and lacking toilet paper and trash bags. The doors for fire egress were screwed shut or left locked forcing people to go though one small door. It’s a safety hazard that could get someone killed in an emergency. It makes you wonder how many other corners have been cut in renovations.
Stopped in to check out the new bar and food last evening. Surprisingly good food and selection of drinks. Great relaxing atmosphere and the bartender, Amy, was great she had an upbeat personality and really connected with us and other customers. A smile and friendliness goes a long way. We will definitely stop back and visit.
It was awesome. My friends and I had a great time. The live band was amazing.
The new bar is beyond cool and the atmosphere is so very nice!!!!! They are the kindest new owners who truly care about their customers. The food is delicious, and to top it all off I had one of the best moscow mules I've ever had here! 10/10 I highly recommend coming here for a great night out Cozy, comfortable, and fun!
Helped renovated for opening day in 2019 IMAX seats the new stage is being put in for live entertainment and newest in latest movies they will be having there for a very reasonable price. Was there opening day and sold out in 20 minutes and rescheduled for more viewings that weekend that did wonderfully well
LOVE the Guthrie. We're so lucky to have a first-run theatre in our downtown. The Thomas' work so hard and are so community-minded. My husband and I go to the movie for $20, including popcorn!
Such a plus to our Grove City Community! We have now attended 2 comedy shows and an Elton John/ Billy Joel Tribute Show...... Nice to be close by.. ...and not an hour drive home afterwards! Keep up the good work!!
What cool people that work there!!! It's a fun atmosphere. That courtney is super sweet
