Description

The Jeanie Johnston Pub and Grill is a deep-rooted meeting place for Jamaica Plain locals, those in the surrounding areas, as well as those from afar. The neighborhood pub is an everlasting destination for locals and our friends when selecting a place to eat or to grab a pint. Steeped in Irish heritage, The Jeanie Johnston Pub and Grill strives to instill the charm and charisma of its legacy with: welcoming patrons, fantastic food, a cozy atmosphere and a skilled staff.

The low-key neighborhood bar offers a wide variety of weekly entertainment for our countless guests. Such as: Best of Boston winning Karaoke Night, Siren Trivia Night, Fun & Games Night and we host a weekly Dart League. We are proud to be the first restaurant and bar in JP with an Internet Jukebox - you can play pretty much any song you want, new and old! "The Jeanie" also has three classic arcade video games: Ms. Pac-Man, Galactica and Bags. The pub also has two dartboards and a multi videogame system to test your skills. Add to that six large high definition (HD) TV's and you will always have a fabulous view of your favorite team or sport.

Thirsty? We offer over 35 bottled or canned beers and ciders, 14 draft beers or ciders and a vast selection of liquors.

Hungry? We have a sizable menu of delectable pub fare to satisfy any appetite and our full menu is also available for takeout.

Midnight munchies? We have extended our kitchen hours and of course it is available for takeout too!

Good friends, good food and good drink, in the heart of Jamaica Plain; is what The Jeanie Johnston Pub and Grill is all about. Please come in, relax and enjoy all that we have to offer.

I tried this place back in Jun’23 and I ordered a beer and fries. Food, drinks and serving were great! At the end I noticed someone coming out of the kitchen really sick and a week later I got covid for the first time in my life. Worst part was my pregnant wife also got it from me and the symptoms hit us pretty bad. It took us several weeks to get back to our normal selves. I was all thinking of possible places I could’ve gotten it from but can’t think of any other source where we could’ve gotten it from.
First time here and it was very nice. Everyone knew each other and the bartender. I found out that the menu that's on the website is about 3 or more years out of date. So they have a new menu at the bar to look at. Not a bad place to stop in to from time to time.Food: 5/5
I’m was a regular here. We’d come for karaoke, and drinks after weekly softball games with pretty big tabs. Yesterday the maybe-new bartender told our large group to leave, before we could order. Something about calling ahead, and being quiet on standup night. It’s pretty nuts that a neighborhood bar would turn a such a large bar tab away. Anyway, fair enough. The foods much better up the street at Costellos and Galways house anyway.
A bartender at this place heard my friends speaking Spanish, asked for her ID, and then KICKED HER OUT after seeing that her id is from Mexico while saying “welcome to America” Boston did just pass a law requiring passports in bars for international folks. HOWEVER they let us in, I ordered drinks speaking English with no problem, and it was only after my friend spoke Spanish and kissed her fiancé a woman that they refused them service and kicked them out of the bar. Seeing the other reviews it looks like the bartenders regularly refuse to serve lgbt folks and immigrants. Unacceptable.
They are RACIST and XENOPHOBIC!!!! They checked our Mexican IDs at the entrance and let us in. After the second round I went to the bar to ask for drinks and after hearing me speaking Spanish the racist bartender asked me for my ID. Our american friends were able to get drinks without being carded inside so it was clear our talking Spanish was why this racist ask for it AGAIN. When he saw my Mexican iD he kicked us out. When I argued he said “welcome to America” and then said we had to get out of we didn’t have an american ID, didn’t even take a passport. Don’t go to this place if you care at all about going to a place that is safe for all nationalities. Never been so disrespected.
Just moved to Boston and I think I love this bar!!! It was a great place, great service, awesome bar food...... And the beers were cold!!!! Wednesday night is trivia! It was CRAZY packed in there but so much fun!!! I think I love this place already! Can’t wait to come back again!
This is a great local dive bar. I like an upscale cocktail but don’t come here for those. Grab a beer and an order of wings and tots. Can’t go wrong!Recommended dishesTater Tots
Really good bar food, great service from our waiter /bartenderFood: 5/5
Great local dive bar, decent food, cheap strong drinks, snarky good-natured bartenders, decent chill local crowd
A bar where the bar takes up half the bar. Great place for lunch. Surprisingly there is a decent kitchen hidden in back. Parking: Just do a couple laps, you will find a spot.
