Toronto Police Headquarters

Description

Toronto Police Headquarters is the headquarters of the Toronto Police Service, located at 40 College Street in Toronto, Ontario. It is the first purpose built police headquarters in Toronto since the formation of the originating force in 1835.HistoryThe current headquarters is on the former site of the downtown Toronto YMCA building at Bay Street and Grenville. The Central YMCA Building was built in 1913 and vacated in 1984 for their new building on Grosvenor Street.ArchitectureCompleted in 1988 by Toronto firms Shore Tilbe Irwin and Partners and Mathers and Haldenby, the twelve floor 164m tall building is an example of Postmodern style. It was built to replace the older and smaller office on Jarvis Street. The building is composed of a series of glass block and pink granite cubes which step back as they rise along College and Grenville Streets. An octagonal twelve storey tower meets the southeast corner of Bay and Grenville Streets. Natural light pours into the central area of the building through a ten-storey high atrium. A domed roof crowns the elevator lobby atop the terraced structure.Street officer nicknames for the structure can vary, depending on the individual officer's opinion of headquarters as an institution: "the Pink Palace" and "the Pink Whorehouse" are two examples.A fully stocked bar has been located on the 4th floor since 1988. It's operated by the Toronto Police Senior Officers' Association and access to the bar is limited to senior officers, to those ranked inspector or above.

Good customer service is offered here by the friendly respectful staff! Police Museum was a fun to visit. Lemme share few pictures with you all: Let's pray & pay tribute to those who serve & protect us!
Amazing service. Had a bad experience on the phone CSR but this live CSR was amazing. Thanks..... you rock!!!
Hi and Good Day!!. I rarely review Metro's Finest. Here is my review of officers McBin and Chen. I was asked by both last night about my mental status and I spoke like a professional to both officers. I can honestly say that what one thinks about law abides is wrong. I was told many years ago and now I only listen to what they say. I know and respect them and both were nice and polite. I respect them for what they say and their duty to protect others. These officers like all responded to what they thought was a crisis which in fact was not. I can only say that my experience with these two officers as with all authority figures was positive. My Best To Metro's Finest!!.
In downtown easy access and very friendly. Also free police museum.
I'm not sure who I dealt with regarding my VSS she signed it JG. But she was an absolute dream to deal with over the phone. Some of the best customer service I've dealt with in my life. Incredibly accommodating with my situation and one of the friendliest people I've encountered regarding law enforcement
Unhelpful 9/10 times. I can be assaulted at work and I will be questioned harder than the person who assaulted me. Apparently they won’t be arrested either. Dispatchers ask useless questions multiple times even if the info being asked for was already given. They also get an attitude rather than understanding I’m calling for a reason and not to have time wasted by a monotone voice slowly asking dumb questions that can be asked by an officer that actually shows up.Response time is trash most times. Defund the police.
I had an issue regarding a call I made to the authorities, but went wrong. I spoke to a very helpful constable on labour day who explained calmly and was patient with my concern. They were throuough with province mandate laws & answered all of my questions without rushing. I truly appreciated the resolved issue.
I have a concern, driving home tonight 8 cars within 10kms driving with there hi beams on. Isn't it 3 demerit points? Under the hwy traffic act. More and more people are driving with them on. I've seen people drive by a police cruiser and nothing happened. I understand that it's not a big issue. But it's a preventable accident. Waiting to happen.
Cool Toronto Police museum and very interesting design of police station overall.
Saw two 'Peace Officers' pull over an old Indian man in the most a disgraceful way. First they disturbed traffic by unexpectedly stopping, then leaving their vehicle in the middle of the road with NO LIGHTS on and hopped from their vehicle like two hound dogs; both sniffing and rubbing their noses like crazy. There actions, attitude and overall behaviour were of two coke heads fuelled on a serious power trip! They were only up to mischief. People like that should NEVER be trusted with a gun! This is not the actions of a 'Peace Officer' out to protect the public. These police were disturbing the peace. All officers should be Drug Tested Monthly!! You can not have people professionally handle drugs in their line of duty and not get tested regularly. To all the GREAT COPS out there- it is time to STAND ASIDE from the cops and politicians that are destroying your country. It is time to PROTECT THE PEOPLE you were sworn to serve. BE BRAVE -for the cops doing the right thing, it is your colleagues and superiors were you may have to take on! When this system bursts, we the PEOPLE WILL NEED YOU!!
