Great place to see AF history and cool planes. The WASP section needs a bit more content. Dusting and cleaning are needed. Great place to bring kids. The lighting is harsh inside florescent which makes photography difficult.
A nice but small aviation museum 4-5 star quality but a 2-3 star size. It gives some account of the historic significance of this base.... first supersonic flight, etc., as well as a small sample of some early space exploration test vehicles, and late model tactical aircraft.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This place is great place. Works off of donations only. Every base should have something like this to show and preserve history.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Great little Air Museum. Lots of nice airframes outside, and fun enjoyable show pieces inside. Very spacious and an easy museum to navigate. Loved the tail and nose art display. And the wall dedicated to the Berlin Air Lift... Good little gift shop as well... niice staff.
Excellent indoor and outdoor museum. Also interesting entering an active air base.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNo
We only got to see the outdoor air park portion. The aircraft are cool and unique. Definitely needs some upkeep with all the weeds in the asphalt.
It's a really nice museum, it's located inside of the army base, so you need to head to the visitors center if you have no military ID. In the visitor center you'll undergo a background check and someone will come to move you to the museum There is a parking lot for about 20 cars or do, it's limited to 30 minutes, but if you go to the museum, they are ok with you leaving your car for longer The driver may give you a little tour around the base, so you can see rows of active military airplanes no pictures allowed though - the base itself is like a little enclosed city The museum has multiple big airplanes on show outside and lots and lots of history inside the building - pictures allowed and encouraged! They have a really nice engine room and even a real bomber simulator you can enter it, but it's not possible to actually turn it on There is a lot of history dating all the way back to the base creation, through WW2 and Vietnam all the way to 2018 as of writing The museum gives a very different vibe thanks to being inside of the US Air Force military base
If you can reach the museum it’s an awesome place to gawk over some rare aircraft. They have a B-52 and the B-29 bombers in the same space. And the entry fee is free, huge bonus there for aviation nerds!Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
My kids 12 and 11 were at Travis waiting for a Space A flight when we decided to check out the museum. First off, it’s free. Secondly, I’ll admit I was not expecting much since it was mostly static displays and we’re not that interested in planes, but… we were shocked by how much fun we had there. The volunteer staff really made it a memorable experience between the tricky scavenger hunt even my sarcastic 12 year old said the hunt was hard! that included a prize and riding the Mercury capsule. Expected to be there for 30 minutes or less, ended up spending an 1.5 hours. Definitely visit if on base!
Really enjoyed this museum. There was a lot of history about the base, various military items used in air crafts ranging from pilot kits to engines and weapons. They have information about world war 2 all the way up to current operations. We didn't even watch all of the videos and it took over an hour but might be more interesting for older kids and adults then kids.
