The purpose of the TFIHS is to provide training, education, and service to the residents of Magic Valley and Southern Idaho.
The purpose of the Twin Falls Institute of Holistic Studies is to provide training, education, and service to the residents of Magic Valley and Southern Idaho. Training will be provided for massage therapists. In addition, classes will be provided in nutrition, kinesiology, therapeutic exercises, and stress reduction. Lectures for the general public to increase the awareness of holistic health practices will be offered. Guest teachers and lectures will be included as available. Our purpose in providing education regarding
holistic health is to bring awareness of old, new and advanced concepts to enhance a healthier and happier lifestyle. We believe that with the increased awareness and knowledge, we as human beings can take responsibility for ourselves and our health.
We believe that the holistic approach to health care is the optimum preventative and therapeutic health care of the present and future. Massage therapy is an integral part of holistic care. Massage serves as an adjunct to any and all healing arts; it is useful in stress reduction and detoxification programs; aids in recovery from exercise and injury; and serves as an adjunct to emotional healing therapies. We believe that fulfilling the basic human need for touch is an essential part of enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
When we relocated to Twin Falls in 1994, we became aware that there was not a massage school in the area – the closest being in Boise or Salt Lake City. We held our first class in the fall of 1995 in the basement of our home – starting with 4 students in the 108-hour Program. We designed the program to be a well-rounded program to enable a student to learn a relaxing sequence of Swedish Massage and an introduction to Anatomy & Physiology, Business & Ethics, Health & Hygiene, and Pathology.
As our students finished this foundation, we added classes toward the Massage Therapist Certification. By 2000, we had a full 500-hour Massage Therapy program, which has now grown to 860+ hours of available classes.
We have continued to have the location of the schoolroom adjacent to our home in order to keep a lower overhead. We pass that savings on to our students in lower tuition rates than can be found anywhere else in Idaho. We have been called the “One Room Schoolhouse” and are proud of the quality of education we give the students. We believe it is our duty and responsibility to teach each student – not just present the material. In order to be able to fulfill this obligation, we keep our classes limited to 12 students for the Swedish class.
Our National Certificate Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork School Code Number is 490728.
