On the University of Florida campus the purpose of the Council is to foster cooperative actions of its members in dealing with matters of mutual concern as well as a focus on the Black community. The objectives of the Council are to promote high academic standards and leadership development among members of fraternities and sororities; to perpetuate constructive fraternity and sorority relationships; to foster an understanding on the structure and method of operation among the affiliate chapters; to address, develop, and implement action strategies on matters of mutual concern to the affiliate chapters.
All of these fraternities and sororities are predominantly comprised of African American women and men, but none of the organizations exclude members because of their race, creed, or color.
These fraternities and sororities participate in an intake program during the academic year. Each organization has specific requirement for membership.
