TL;DR: Fantastic emergency vet services by each member of the staff, would use again and recommend. This will be a longer review because it deserves it. The BEST veterinary service I've ever received, hands down. How we were treated for our emergency visit has confirmed to me this is where I will be bringing my dogs for all care here on out. A couple weeks ago, my two dogs got into a fight. I felt out of my league addressing the wounds on his chest, so I had to bring him to an emergency vet. From the first person that answered my call, I felt like I was in good hands. I brought him in at about 9:30 on a Tuesday, and they had me wait in a waiting room. It was a long wait, about two to three hours, but I understand triage and appreciated waiting in a private room instead of my vehicle or the waiting room. After an exam, the veterinarian clearly outlined my options and discussed my budget. The surgery wouldn't be cheap, but they worked with me to get it as close to a number I could afford. This is the first time each cost has been outlined explicitly for me at a vet, and we went through them line by line. He ended up being put under to get a drain installed and some stitches. I picked him up to come home by 5 PM. Jessy, a vet tech, helped us, that was so sweet and incredibly professional. She quelled my fears and was very gentle with my husband and me. It was an exhausting and emotional day, and to be treated with kindness was exactly what we needed. Once we got our boy, he was so happy to see us and surprisingly in such good spirits for just going through surgery. I could tell they treated him well. The next day, I received a phone call from VCA asking about him. I loved this. A few days later, we returned to have his drain removed and a little exam. David helped us, another phenomenal vet tech. During this visit, it seemed like the whole staff went out of their way to ensure we could walk our dog in and out with the least hassle. He's a bit reactive with other dogs, and with his chest still healing, we wanted to be extra cautious. David was extremely thorough, and I appreciated him listening to all my questions and giving me sound advice in a way that didn't seem condescending, just genuinely educational. While waiting for my next experience, my boy developed a bit of a lump that concerned me. I called on a Friday afternoon, and they instructed me to take some pictures and send them in. It was another first for a vet experience, but it was incredible, nonetheless. My pics were shown to a professional, and I heard within an hour that we would be okay to wait for the scheduled exam in a few days. I fully expected another emergency visit and exam fee, but instead, they proved that money was not their motive - my dog's health was. This morning was our last visit, and I was helped by Andrea B. Another amazing experience; she was just the ray of sunshine I needed to close out this whole fiasco. She made sure to help me in and out of the lobby, laughed with me when the doggy was being a little nuts, and was so sweet to my pup and me. The doctor said everything looked great, and we should be all done with these visits! 10/10 I recommend this vet for emergency services and wouldn't take my pets elsewhere. I'm looking forward to establishing routine care with VCA in the future. VCA and your fabulous staff: Thanks again so so so much.
I can’t say enough about how professional and empathetic the staff is on 22nd. We serious thought we were going to lose our little family dog, possibly toad poisoning. To the shock of all of use her will to live and the knowledgeable staff saved her life. Even though she gave some attitude to staff, I know she is really grateful to all of you for saving her and helping her survive. She came home with a full recovery 13 hours later.
We ended up taking an emergency trip to VCA because our snake was getting significantly worse before our appointment at orange grove the next day. The care there has literally been I think the worst experience we have ever had dealing with vets. I’ve worked many years in animal care They let us wait 2 hours after they took him to the back to “examine him” they didn’t even take vitals before they said “some of our vets don’t like handling snakes” they sent us home and we waited another hour before the new Tech on duty called and said they had still not looked at him. So we decided to come in to pick him up and got a little heated because how do you see this and not think this is emergency? How do you let him just sit there like this and fear that he is going to hurt you? After some words with the tech we were able to get some pain management until he can get into orange grove in the morning. The night tech that helped was great, we are glad she spoke up for us. It feels like false advertisement, do not trust them with your exotics. They will drag you along and waste yours and their time .
I've brought both my cat and dog here for emergency care and have had great experiences each time. My dog is extreamly fearful, and the vet tends to bring out the worst in him. Regardless, I feel that the staff has never treated him any different than a normal dog, and his care and wellbeing has always been prioritized. He's had a rough year, and unfortunately we've had to make three separate er trips. Each time we've seen different staff members, and each one was equiped to deal with a dog with behavioral issues. One time a tech even let me know that she had worked with dogs with behavioral issues in the past, and took the time to sit down on the ground with him and attempt to build a positive association. That always stood out to me as a particularly compassionate moment. Yesterday I brought my senior cat in for emergency services and the staff was once again great. I really appreciated that they explained everything to me thoroughly but didnt push unneccesary testing. They also let me know that the exam fee is good for 24 hours, just in case we needed to come back. Thank you for taking the best care of Orbit and Allie!
I brought a little 8 lb shih Tzu Chihuahua who needed urgent care, The estimate the veterinarian gave me was between $3,500 and just over $4,000 and they wanted $2,800 to just start treatment I went and took a car loan out on my car got $1,500 took that to them they modified the treatment plan which meant that they were going to hydrate him monitor him and give him some pain meds when all was said and done and I picked him up the following day the bill had come to $1,696 I had two friends donate $100 to the cause so they wanted me to pay the $96 because they say I was late coming to pick Douglas up they say in their documentation that the veterinarian called me at 6:30am I had my phone right beside my bed I made sure absolute sure that my phone was on loud ring. no one called me I'm still checking and still waiting for the voicemail I did receive a text message at 8:00 saying that I have been enrolled into the VCA tax communication system I have replied immediately right back Yes an hour later I get a confirmation in a text message confirming that I have been enrolled in this service, I showed them all this they still want their $96 because I'm late. They charged me for 24 hours of care he was seen at approximately 8:15 the prior morning they wanted him out of that hospital at 6:30 the following morning That's not 24 hours. Three years prior to this I brought another dog into that facility who I hd to 30 days later laid to rest, they sent me home with that dog without giving him any pain medications and wanted to charge me $80 for a vet consultation, NO veterinarian came into that room and talked to me at all not once, and they want to charge me $80 on the way out with a dog that was in pain and they didn't give me nothing to help him The only reason I went back this time was because it's 3 years later they've done a whole lot of remodeling that place looks really nice inside really really nice I thought maybe that their standards would have been remodeled as well, but obviously I was wrong, I will not be taking my dog back there I do not recommend this place to anyone whatsoever and I did notice that they allow the police to go back and visit their dog while it was in their recovery but they don't allow me to go back and see my dog. they want to rustle him all up when he's comfortable and bring him out to me no don't do that why can't I go back there and see him what or why can't they have the owners go back with their dogs back there. Third time's a charm I have another dog sweetie she was diagnosed with valley fever from that place when I had to take her back couple days later at 2:00 in the morning I was upset and crying I was worried to death that she was not going to make it and on the other side of the door I could hear the technician that took the information for me making fun of me laughing and making fun at me that was the only time when I made a complaint about that that they allowed me to tour the entire facility third times a charm I'm done with that place I'm not interested in a place looking all nice and beautiful it just needs to be clean and have good employees who care about the animals and know what they're doing The place doesn't need to be all big and fancy like they have that place That's ridiculous absolutely ridiculous and the fact that they give the Tucson Police department priority over their other customers is bull absolute bull I don't care if they put their lives on the lines or their dogs put their lives on the line that's what they get paid to do that's what they get trained to do they're no different from the average Joe's animal no different. And if anybody wants to contact me from valley Animal Hospital by all means do so I'll gladly talk to anybody there . I'm going to do some investigation and find out where I need to file a formal complaint against this facility and I'm not filing it with them. Sincerely James Hollis
Had a sudden emergency obviously that required me to euthanize immediately as my rat was acutely suffering. I was all over the place and not thinking straight and Kathryn CSR and the Shelby veterinary assistant were both so lovely and helpful. Dr. Russo was also so kind and took time to answer my questions. My husband and I deeply appreciate their patience and compassion they showed us and our baby.
My boyfriend and I had to take our dog to VCA Valley Animal Hospital under the worst circumstances. VCA was able to get us in for an appointment same-day and the service was impeccable. They took us to the "Comfort Room" where the vet tech, David, asked us some questions and went over some medical documents. David was really empathetic and did an excellent job at talking us through each step of the appointment. Soon after, Dr. Blatt came into the room and spoke with us about our options. Mind you, we were barely holding it together as both Dr. Blatt and David made their way in and out of the room with us, and as they talked to us. Both of them were very sweet and handled us the emotional humans and the care of our dog with so much grace. I HIGHLY recommend VCA and Dr. Blatt's team if you need care for your animals. Incredibly caring, attentive and empathetic all the way through. This is a personal thank you to their team.

Very incensive cold calist uncompassionate people .... I am half-Mexican and half white. So I'm not prejudiced but I will say this. The Mexican women at that hospital are very insensitive to our pets. I don't know what it is. But they were rude to me more than one. And as as moarning from my precious loved dog. All I could think about is I should've told those Mexican women off for being so uncompassionate and uncaring. And I shouldn't have left my dog there. That's what I got to think in my mind when I was moarning for precious dog.... I did go back and talk to management about discipline in her staff. And she said she get back to me. And I never heard from her. That's a kind of service you'll get there.
First and foremost, I would like to point out to the readers- Veterinary Healthcare IS, will always be, and will continue to be EXPENSIVE! You must pay for services rendered out of pocket, unless YOU were a proactive pet owner and signed Fluffy up for pet insurance well before your emergency visit. Complaining about it here, and basing the high cost of Grade A- Gold Standard health care on your negative review only tells us about your ignorance- NOT the alleged incompetence of the veterinary staff during your visit. Chances are, you don’t have a regular veterinarian- or even see one at all- and you waited DAYS before bringing your pet to be seen- only making the illness worse and subsequently more expensive to treat. Your angry reviews tell us all how un willing you were to listen to staff in the first place. Not a single member of Valley Animal Hospitals staff is rude unless YOU are rude first. You cannot have Mayo Clinic Quality healthcare for Kmart prices!!! Low cost veterinary clinics underpay their staff and do not have the capacity or capability to treat what Valley does. I brought my 10 year old chihuahua in for vomiting/diarrhea. I saw the estimates with the high dollar rage. I communicated with the veterinarian and the technicians that I have minimal finances to work with. And I we got my little Lillian set up with some conservative care- SQ Fluids, Anti nauseant, and probiotics. It was expensive, but worth it. I know everyone here is under appreciated. And constantly yelled at by pet owners giving sub par care at home and angrily pointing fingers at staff for a pets health issues that were ignored and festered at home- before even walking into the hospital’s doors. As pet owners, we are responsible for proactive pet parenting, a positive attitude, and attentive communication with the medical staff to help them do educated guesswork on our babies who can’t talk. As humans, we need to be better to each other! After all, we can only do our best.
