Description

We offer a full line of the wonderful stuff of fly fishing equipment to meet your angling needs, be it high country creeks, highland streams, tailwaters, smallmouth rivers or saltwater.

Products

We carry and service TFO and R.L. Winston fly rods; Ross, Waterworks-Lamson, TIbor, TFO and Redington reels; Scientific Angler, Rio, and Jim Teeny fly lines. We are a full line Simms wader and apparel dealer. We sell packs, vests, and bags from Fishpond and Umpqua. We sell Sunglasses from Smith Optics and Sun Cloud. Our fly bins offer a wide variety of patterns for each season and fishery type. If you tie your own, then check out our expansive tying department.

The shop has a good variety of tying materials, rods, reels, lines and functional equipment. The shop isn't filled with clothing which is a plus from my point of view. The employees were very knowledgeable and nice to talk to.
Friendly, knowledgeable and enjoyable to talk to. Has every bit of equipment you could ever need and gave us exceptional information. We purchased a few flys here and loved this shop. You can't go wrong asking for information here. They will teach you, show you, and tell you what you need to know. Full line of equipment, fly tying gear and all the accessories you could possibly need. While we were there the owner was showing a customer how to tie specific flys. We will make it a point to stop in here Everytime we pass through on our fly fishing trips
Great shop with a good selection of flies and gear. Very nice people. They gave me some great advice on local spots to fish to avoid the most pressured areas. They even pulled up Google maps to show me how to get around the area. When I am fishing this region I will certainly be back.
Bruce Wankle is one of the BEST in our NE Tennessee/SW Virginia region when it comes to catching fish. He is extremely experienced as a guide and has extensive knowledge of our rivers and streams. He sells the equipment that works! If you need advice about fly fishing in our region, go to Bruce FIRST! He always has the answer to my questions about the right fly at the right time. You will not be disappointed. His shop is stocked with everything you need to get started and to stay on the water. He even rents the equipment needed for fly fishing if you're traveling to our location.
Great local fly shop with all the gear and locally tied flies you need. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great fly shop great owner that really knows his stuff. I am happy to see a brick and mortar log and chinking? fly shop still in business. Sometimes you need a fly or reel NOW and you can't wait for it to ship to you. Please support this shop so it does not disappear like so many others shop have.
My experience is not a good one. For one thing, you should never make fun of a customer for calling flys "lures". I may not be a professional fly fisherman but I AM a customer. Or at least I could have been if the owner had not poked fun and even said he guessed he should rename his shop and put out a sign that says Virginia Creeper Lures. So I walked out to the car and sat while my son and husband looked around. He doesn't deserve my patronage.
Very friendly and helpful shop located in the heart of some of the best fishing in southern Appalachia. Bruce is probably the most knowledgable angler regarding the fisheries of SWVA, and is always well-stocked to help you make the most of your time fishing in the region.
These men are very nice and help with all your fly fishing needs. Very knowledgeable I will definitely shop here for my husband more. If they don’t have it they will order it. Thank you all
Would definitely swing by here again if in the area. Owner shared a wealth of info with me, and helped me with what flies to use for my trip. Couldnt recommend enough.
