Very professional, respectful, compassionate team at Wesley Long treated my daughter for hip replacement surgery. Dr Matthew Olin in an amazing surgeon! Facility was clean and easy to navigate. Kind and compassionate nursing and ancillary staff from admissions to discharge. Thank you!
Brought my husband to WLCH for an infected knee. Some things about an emergency room visit are just typical for an ER visit such as waiting and waiting on labs and scans. However the bedside care we received by Dr. Floyd was very attentive and personable with great explanations on his conditions, antibiotics, and follow-up care required.
I went into emergency room with bad headache, throat felt like needles in it, couldn't hold food down so Dr. Danielle Ray check me out and I told how bad I felt so she never did give me anything until I had to damn near beg for something to make me feel better . They were trying to give me Tylenol and I had taken everything to make me feel better but it wasn't working,so I told them I wasted my time and money coming there because they wasn't trying to help me ,no blood work taken or nothing and today I'm still feeling bad. They said I had a respiratory infection but still didn't get antibiotics or nothing. I've seen first hand how a black person gets treated like we're beneath white people a white would have gotten everything they needed to feel better but I left the emergency room feeling the same way I came in there feeling. I see why black people die in hospitals at an alarming rate compared to white patients. Terrible experience black people stay woke.
UPDATE: NOTICE THE CONE HEALTH OWNER DID NOT REPLY TO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT THE 4 TO 5 DAYS WAIT TIME TO BE TRANSFERRED! GUESS GINGER BELOW WASN'T TREATED LIKE MY MOM WAS! I ALSO HAVE THE PIC OF THE BED PAN THAT WAS PUT IN HER BATHROOM FOR DAYS BEFORE IT WAS CLEANED. This is a shout out to all patients and families that have experienced prolonged wait times to be transported from Wesley Long by Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue to another facilty. My mom's care at Wesley Long this year negatively impacted her life, health and recovery. This post is in response to the letter my mother received from in response to my letter to Wesley Long. I stated I did not think she should have to pay more than for her initial need for services and not for the extended 4 days waiting for transportation. During those 4 days, she deteriorated in health but was transported anyway, only to return the next morning to ICU. I attribute her near loss of life event to her lack of appropriate monitoring during those 4 days waiting for transportation. The wait time happened again days later after she was re-released. Her condition for readmission was not related at all to why she was admitted initially. She should have gone home in days to her normal, independent life. This daily issue of transportation seems to be systemic as every employee of both facilities were inured to the long, unscheduled wait times whereby the PTAR staff always arrive unannounced and at any hour of the day or night because they state they are under staffed. Two huge questions: 1. Why does Wesley Long continue to use any entity with such a bad track record for timely transportation of patients resulting in at least one patient, my mother, being harmed by the wait time? 2. Why does Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue have such a bad track record for timely transportation of patients, like our family members, as consistently and persistently as they do?. I tried reaching out with the same letter to PTAR, followed up to request written response and the Chief herself refused to respond in writing to my complaints. If this has happened to you or your family, please review on Google. I do not think this was an isolated incident and wonder how many others experienced and paid for the long wait for transportation and/or suffered due to those circumstances. 3. Okay one more question. Would anyone be willing to submit a Freedom of Information request to discover the number of negative incidents due to prolonged wait times, especially in regards to lack of staff in comparison with profit margins? If you know how, please do and sent it to whomever has authority over such matters. While this might not be unique, it should not be the norm. FOA and medical law is over my head, but anyone who feels qualified, we would welcome the effort.
Our dad started in ICU and then to 4 East. His last days with us here on earth were spent under the best care that we could’ve asked for. Physicians and nurse care provided were patient, friendly, and compassionate during his entire time there. The care team at the end, was wonderful and very attentive to our dad and us. The only suggestion that I can give is to the equipment that the staff uses. From thermometers to other items. They have equipment that needs to be replaced. Temps had to be taken multiple times to get a correct reading, at times. Let’s give this amazing nursing staff working equipment, for their shifts. In light of that, they still had a great attitude when something wasn’t functioning as it should. Thank you!!
My mother was admitted last Saturday to the 6th floor it was the worse experience ever . We found her in urine and feces on several occasions! In addition, she was laying with her head tilted so far back that the blood was rushing to her head . Not only that but on sat at er admissions they diagnosed her with a uti but no one caught it til 2 days later . That alone could have caused sepsis! They wanted to discharge her to asst living facility and she could not even walk . At one point her alarm on her bed went off to indicate she had fallen for over 15 minutes no one came in to check her . She was laying in urine on her last day for over 20 minutes when we walked down to tell nurse we only found one nurse and they said all the nurses were busy but pointed to the sheets and told us we could do it . Which we did …. On the day of discharge they removed oxygen said she didn’t need it by the time paramedics got there 8 hours later after they were called. At this juncture her oxygen was so low the paramedics could not transport her to the skilled nursing institute! . All this treatment was given to an 86 year old woman with dementia and a lung clot who had 2 daughters that were advocates for her CAN You Imagine if she had no advocates ? I would say go anywhere besides Wesley long absolutely deplorable that they are allowed to treat patients that way . Don’t bother talking to charge nurse it will No good !!!!We did and after speaking with her my mother was treated worse. Appalled advocate for my mother and ALL elderly who can’t speak .
I thought Moses cone would be worse but I was sadly mistaken. I came in with the worst abdominal pain I ever experienced. In the process the hospital lost my phone and wallet and also didn’t talk to me much about my issue at all. They were quick to discharge me. Only one of senior nurses and the security cared about my lost items. I luckily found my phone. But my wallet is still missing and everyone was acting confused and lost. Do yourself a favor and go out the city for medical attention.
Being a person with severe asthma symptoms, I felt like the staff was not properly knowledgeable in what i needed. I literally told him which meds and treatments to use for me due to my history of asthma. A few of my breathing treatments weren’t given on time. My nurses James and Arkita were amazing. The staff was very friendly , but I’m going to need respiratory to get a bit more active around there ! Or for the staff to learn more about handling patients with severe asthma! QUICKER !
I went into the hospital due to cellulitis on my arm, caused by a bug bite, which was diagnosed by the urgent care. Skip forward I was having a drug reaction to antibiotics from the urgent care in which the doctors did two different antibiotic treatments via IV. My arm was so swollen that it was oozing when there was no abrasions. The rash then grew to my other arm and down my side. I was in a ton of pain from the pressure of my inflamed body. The doctor tried to tell me NOT to ice my arm, dumbest thing I ever heard when it comes to inflammation. Pretty sure she got her medical degree from a Cracker Jack box. I saw not one, but two infectious disease doctors, all the while requesting prednisone which I did not receive until discharge and I had to pick up at the pharmacy. I was in WORSE shape leaving then when I check myself in. Where do you go if the HOSPITAL can’t cure you in five days?!? The prednisone absolutely helped, and a dermatologist fixed the issue. Super incompetent facility. I’ll ride to Charlotte for emergencies, I guess. I am left questioning humanity, how these people got a degree in medicine and a 700.00 bill for a place that actually caused me MORE harm than when I checked in. Thanks Cone for the debt and no help.
The reviews do not LIE! I wish I had read them prior to making this expensive trip. I felt worst when I left. My concerns were not evaluated nor reviewed. I wasn't treated for anything I check-in for. At check in I was cut off and all my information didn't make it into the system. The registrar main concern was how did I intend to pay my copay. The male that came to ask me my reason for the visit ordered testing that I didn't need and wasn't covered over with my insurance. The young lady that took my blood pulled the needle out blood got all over me and the bed/sheets. Then she asked did I want her to change the sheets....The doctor came in pretty much told me I had more questions than she had answers for. She gave me some unrelated med advice. Then she took a call b/c that was more important than the reason why I was there. So unprofessional no compassion and no experience on my health concern. The people who came in that room had already got paid when they showed up. Therefore the care, treatment, and service really didn't matter to them because they would collect a check, I will get an expensive bill, and no one would care or follow up because my issues didn't nor don't matter which is so hurtful on top of being in pain. My hope is that someone reviews these situations pull the check ins for April compare reason for visit to treatment/medicine recommended/provided for the visits. Something needs to be done about the lack of service that is not provided for patients with life threating concerns.
