It very seldom that any fine dinning restaurant gets a 5 star rating, but this restaurant should not be underestimated. At the bottom to the very summit of Bo-Kaap, hides a restaurant that all locals should indefinitely try just once in there fast-paced lives. My wife and I were welcomed with warm Cape Townian smiles. We started our journey of fine dinning with your typical yet mouth devouring fresh & crispy garlic bread with butter. Thereafter our shared starter comprised of Creamy half mussles which were beyond a mouthful for both my wife & i which on presentstion were partially buoyant in a decadent yet over-lemon-ish butter sauce. I opted for the Catch of the Day being Kingklip & a side of roast veg. The fish was fresh, perfectly garnished, grilled meticulously succulent & served with side of lemon butter sauce and roasted veg, which to my surprise was perfectly roasted and filling, presented from a kitchen you would have expected came from Gordon Ramsay himself. My wife opted for the Queen prawns with the peri peri sauce, which to her dismay were not up to her standards of peri-peri-ness but the prawns were grilled perfectly and sufficiently dripping from the sauce they were bathing in. The new kitchen staff that were part of these magnificent meals should hold there heads up high, as I will be venturing many more of my date nights to this space. This Quality of food & hospitality definitely deserves bragging rights.
Quite disappointed. Lunch Reservation was not saved.. Mains menu was not impressive either. The veggies and potatoes were good, however the desserts were rather dry and brownies, were paper like unfortunately. Of the meal, the danishes were the best. It was not the best experience unfortunately
Prices are very steep for small portions probably to be expected from a fine dining restaurant, but we were surprised by the lack of flavour and substance of the main courses. We ordered saj breads basically naan breads with a filling. The taste was good but the bread wasn't properly fried/cooked so the edges were raw dough. 3 of the dishes we wanted were not available. So we took the roast chicken title: home away from home and the duck duo. No flavour or seasoning in either main course. Also, the menu description including items that were not served in the dish. The tea and iced coffee were really good, and the deconstructed carrot cake dessert was amazing. The meringue dessert was just okay. Desserts were well priced though. The table next to us ordered steaks and immediately asked for a salt shaker, so I'm assuming it also lacked a bit of flavour. The hostess became our waitress and offered exceptional service. Our actual waitress had an "intern" badge, and definitely wasn't trained because she claimed she had no idea what the dishes tasted like, nor how they were made or looked. If you go, they validate your parking so no need to park outside. MIGHT go back for dessert and coffee, but not for a meal.
Very disappointing. Had guests from Sweden and we took then for supper. Everything was really not up to standard. Steak was either under or overdone, dry and tasteless. We waited so long and there was just no flow. When we entered we waited so long for them to even acknowledge our presence despite having a reservation. On top of it they we so expensive! Service sucked
Lovely food with a great atmosphere and vibe. The ribs and quinoa burger were tantalising and the boeber was the perfect dessert to end of the night. The service from sibo was amazing and she went the extra mile to be polite!
Very nice decor and ambiance. Food was good although a bit pricey and the portions were a tad bit small. Recommend the mussels and prawns. Service wasn’t the best and you have to pay R50 for underground parking which is a bit of a ripoff
Pretty slick service, chic and modern decor and a very relaxed atmosphere make for a really enjoyable dining experience. The menu is very eclectic and varied, so if burgers, fish & chips or pizza are your thing, this isn't for you. The dessert options were with limited and unusual, but giving a nod to the traditional, like crème brulee out chocolate mousse wouldn't hurt. It's also halaal, therefore no alcohol is served. It was quite pricey, but that's fully expected given its CBD location.
Fast and friendly service and a typical array of Cape Malay Cuisine. A definite pitstop if ever you want to know what denning vleis is. They offer an iftar buffet but it's a waste especially when youre not able to eat your normal quantities. A suggestion to make it more competitive is relook your pricing tier in Ramadan and apply those charges in the other months especially when you have iftaar bookings
Had my sisters 50th Birthday dinner here with just get closest foot and friends, we had our own section with one very long table and our own buffet section, the decor, ambiance was stunning and all the staff was on point, all the food/ desserts was delightful and a satisfying variety of dishes, it's an Halaal 5 star fine dining experience and one I won't forget soon, thanks to Janne and her team that helped me with the planning and arranging the birthday dinner and to Chef Jonathan for his beautiful menu and the delicious food prepared for us
Looking for a different place to eat, I stumble across Cape Kitchen & Cafe on Google. Looks good and decide to try it out. Spent a little while looking for it though, as there was no indication that it was inside another business. I eventually called the number and then found out it was inside the Hyatt Regency Inn on Buitengracht Street in Cape Town. What a lovely experience!!! The waiter/attendee was very welcoming and gracious. The restaurant was clean, and although it was situated in the hotel foyer, nicely seperated from any hotel activity. The menu was available on QR scanner so I would advise that you have this app on your mobile. It doesn't have a large menu, but it had what I love. STEAK!!! It came with the option of one side and one sauce. I opted for a buttery mash with my 300gr Rib Eye, while my wife did the fries with her 300gr Sirloin. Lovely. Mine was perfectly cooked, medium to well done, but the wife was slightly underdone and always concerned about saying something negative about the food, we decided to brave it and spoke to the waiter and our request was surprisingly well received and promptly attended to. After we had placed our order, we were served with a complimentary bread and butter basket, and this is probably my only negative. There was no side plate forthcoming so we had to make do with eating this off our serviettes. Other than that I will and have already recommended this "cafe" to friends and relatives
