All salads come from the kitchen. They get visas and travel to other restaurants where they lose a bit of their style, flavor and originality. The salads here are so good they are otherworldly. Transcendental. Delicious. Addictive. If you’re just passing through the city looking for a cheap thrill, you must be prepared to move here and have lunch daily. Did I also mention the coffee is good and the people are kind?
First day of opening for 2020 and I was the first customer. Really friendly and helpful staff. Energetic Karen the owner and chef was there to welcome me, even dished out a hug. Great vibe, amazing anchovy fillets buttered toast and sweet tomatoes. Good start for the week.
The Kitchen is my favorite lunch spot in Cape Town. The casual, vibey & homely atmosphere makes it a perfect place to enjoy a meal whether on your own or with friends. You order your food by standing in a queue and choosing from the options and then sit down and eat your food on large tables that you share with others. The food is incredible, full of flavor and love Takeaway is also an option.
One can feel the love and passion for food as soon as you enter. It helps that the owner / founder is there most of the time too! Superb food. A local gem.
Beautiful, delicious and fresh salads! The atmosphere is uniquely Cape Town. A must visit, whether it's a weekly midday meal or a special treat. Vegetarian heaven with optional meat on the side, it satisfies everyone!
This is a top notch food experience. Highly highly recommend this spot. The atmosphere is amazing, staff are great and you get the real family kind of vibe.
The food is always great at The Kitchen. Many healthy choices to choose from. Be prepared to wait through the qeues are long.
The Kitchen is the coolest eatery in Woodstock. Their salads are super tasty and satisfying, and the casual atmosphere always makes my day. The art is eclectic yet appropriate: the Kitchen is where I discovered gorgeous line-drawings of Woodstock by the talented Mark Hilltout.
So fabulous. Lived up to my expectations as I have cooked from Karen Dudley's books. Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff. Great options for vegetarian and vegan. Yay! Yay! Yay!

Today's feature is split into two parts as there are some stories that speak to the soul and must be told in full • THE COOKBOOK • The Love Sandwich: Nourishes the soul w/pesto spread, grilled chicken, drizzled mayo/mustard, topped with sliced pickles, greeting fresh vegetables. . Avo Toast: Freshly baked, thinly sliced, lightly toasted bread graced with melted butter crowned w/avocado, drizzled olive oil, & fresh sea salt • THE CHEF • PART 1 of 2: "Every day is a ballet performance. In the morning the we arrive, we stretch, slice vegetables and prepare for the show! We offer 20 salads, Love Sandwiches, and treats so it's an intense performance. Each salad must have its own character. It must sing. Sing the texture, the flavor. It must sing it's song and be an individual but also play well with the other vegetables. Salads, like people, are diverse and must find their way in this world to be the best versions of themselves. . I guess I have a real commitment to people and vegetables. Creating a culinary experience that inspires, that makes a difference in people's lives, that's what it's all about. The service of others is the highest and most noble calling in life. Nourishing the mind, body, soul, community, and identity of people is a remarkably beautiful opportunity. Food can unleash emotion and bring people to together, so the ministry and gospel of food is integral in finding communion in oneself, one's family, one's country. .
