Went there for a light snack and drinks on 29 April 2023 just after 4pm. They were packed and only had seats available at the bar. It was a pretty good view. We ordered the Larry No-drama llama it's the one with the cotton candy, koala bear looks plain but very potent, the blue drink with the dried ice it has no name but it is sourish and the Rum Misfit something with the canon - I really liked the taste. To snack, we had the pork belly bao bun. After 5pm they got a bit quiet. During our stay there were these annoying Scottish pipe players outside. Cool vibes with lots of seating and friendly staff. Best to reserve a table as they do fill up quickly.
#COCKTAILS! Great cocktail bar, situated right in the heart of the waterfront. Started with a negroni, which was EXCELLENT. Followed with a margarita, which was disappointing, hence the lost star. It seems that there aren’t any good limes or good lime juice available in Cape Town. Currently ranked #75 in the World’s Top 50 Best Cocktail Bars list. Will definitely go back and try out a few more cocktails. Good service, chatty barmen. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Vibe was good and food was filling. Cocktails- although pricey, worth the experience. Kids menu has all the favourites. No milkshakes though which I was surprised about. Overall, good service and we would return.
Still one of the best cocktail bars in the world I've been to! A bit on the pricey side but definitely worth the show and effect.Service: 5/5
This place has great vibe with delicious mimosas. The food took awhile to get served but they kept serving mimosas which was great. The staff are very friendly and helpful.Food: 3/5
Had my birthday supper here and my goodness Cause Effect did not disappoint, the seafood platter was beyond exquisite and the cocktails were not only beautifully presented but blended so well and delicious, We'll definitely be returning soon :Food: 5/5
This is a decent and fun bar but it does not live up to expectations given its rating within the top 100 bars in the world. There is an excellent selection of South African Brandeys, but the cocktails are uninspired. The ingredients are interesting but the flavour profiles are underwhelming. There is a lot of performative drink preparation so try to sit at the bar if you go and if you like the show or is a fun place. But not a great cocktail bar in my opinion. Service was slow on a quiet Tuesday night.
Truly amazing cocktail bar situated within the hustle and bustle of the V&A waterfront. Each cocktail could quite easily be considered an artwork displaying technically prowess and creative flair. The interior of the bar is most incredibly decorated and practical. Highly recommended for those looking for fun and class!
Cause Effect is well-known for their interesting cocktails so I was very excited to visit them. The restaurant isn't very large making it a bit more intimate, and although they have a very small outside seating area, they also have an indoor seating area which is beautifully decorated. After going through their very extensive cocktail menu, the waiter offered to make recommendations based on our preferences. I asked him to recommend some cocktails to me and out of the 3 he recommended I'd already had 2 of them in mind, which showed that they really know their drinks. By far they are most renowned for the creative look of many of their cocktails mine was more flavour based than visually exciting so I recommend you mention to the waiter if you want one of those options. They aren't just a cocktail bar, but a restaurant as well, and although I haven't eaten there yet I have heard very good things of the food. Cause Effect is very popular, and we were lucky that a table was open, but next time I will definitely make a reservation.
Fine food with the starter fillet steak a piece of perfection. The seafood platter for 2 is ample enough for 2 to share. Only provided 4 stars as we did not experience the venue with full capacity but a definite gem is the barman who so obviously loves what he does. ...amazing drinks.
