Superb in every way. Kirsteen and Andrew made us most welcome on our arrival, and the tea and scones were a real treat after a long drive. Our rooms was even more spacious and luxurious than I could have imagined: a huge and comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom with every last detail considered. Dinner was delicious - Kirsteen is an excellent cook and we thoroughly enjoyed their company over dinner. I can't wait to find an excuse to stay again. Food & drinks: Really delicious dinner. Perfect breakfast. And afternoon scones, cake and tea to die for. Noteworthy details: A fabulous couple and a fabulous house. Extremely convenient for the M74 but so quiet and relaxed - we could have been in a different country.

We had a wonderful stay at this gem of a place so easily accessed from the motorway. Our bedroom and fabulous ensuite were beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and all the amenities you could need. We also had a lovely view of the garden and surrounding countryside. Our wonderful hosts provided us with great company and food. Kirsteen cooked a lovely dinner and Andrew served us quite the best cooked breakfast we have ever eaten complete with haggis. We enjoyed several beautiful walks in the lovely countryside. Thoroughly recommended, 5 star rating all round.

Applegarth House is positioned as a luxury B&B. But that hardly does it justice. It is in fact an elegant small country house with lovely gardens, in a quiet peaceful rural setting but reasonably close to the A74M. Kirsteen and Andrew are a 'class act'. The interior is decorated and furnished exquisitely and they are friendly attentive hosts. Kirsteen is clearly an excellent cook and dinner and breakfast are of a very high standard indeed. Great decision by my wife to book it as a stop over on our way up to Mull !

We stayed at Applegarth House when we were over from Australia. We were given an incredibly warm welcome from Andrew and Kirsteen and the house is gorgeous with a beautiful garden. They treated us like friends and the house was very homely with pictures of the family and flowers in each room. We had the best night sleep in the most comfortable of beds, the room with its ensuite, was perfect. Kirsteen is a great cook and produced delicious dinner in the evening and Andrew cooked an excellent breakfast. If we are ever over again, we would definitely come again. We had a lovely stay here whilst returning from a work trip. The rooms were very comfortable, Kirsteen was extremely welcoming and was an excellent host and we had a delicious home cooked meal. Highly recommend.Rooms: 5/5

We recently stayed at Applegarth for the 2nd visit as Kirsteen and Andrew are such good hosts. Rooms very comfortable and evening meal a very social occasion. The next time we head north we will definitely try and stay again.

A wonderful home to stay in just off the M74. Applegarth House is beautifully appointed and we were given a wonderful welcome, delicious food and the best nights sleep. I really could not find any fault. It would be a wonderful place to explore Dumfrieshire from. We will definitely return.Rooms: 5/5
