Description

An Austrian/German themed restaurant and pub, established in 1999 in the heart of the scenic KwaZulu-Natal Midlands that serves hearty meals, catering to all tastes using the finest, freshest ingredients that the Midlands has to offer, especially our famous crispy eisbein, available in three different sizes. Children are also well catered for.

The pub offers over 35 different beers from around the world, including our very own local draught beers from Nottingham Road Brewery and a fine selection of wines on our Diners Club Platinum award winning wine list.

Attached to the restaurant is a delicatessen offering cold meats, salamis and sausages, home baked breads and a whole variety of local and imported goodies that are used in the restaurant's kitchen.

Visit us for a hearty meal, a light snack or just a beer tasting or cup of coffee, we would love to meet you.

Open all day, every day from 9am and evenings too.

This is a great German/Austrian themed pub in the Midlands. The global beer experience is amazing and best of all - beers are pretty reasonably priced. The pub is wheelchair friendly and the wheel chair friendly bathroom is clean and easy to use. The owners management and staff will go out of their way to assist patrons that use wheelchairs. The eisbein is a must, the portions are more than generous and perfectly cooked. I'll definitely be back for this pubs amazing food well priced cold beer and great service, thanks Bierfassl see you soon...
Great place. Authentic German/Austrian cousins wrapped in the perfect setting. Get there early as the place tends to fill up on popular holidays. You may wait a bit longer for your food. Also, try out the Deli behind the restaurant
We enjoyed our experience here. The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing and rustic. The staff are very attentive and friendly. They also have blocks on the table to flip around if you need the waitron to attend to you. The food we received was tasty and hearty. The only thing we were a bit disappointed in, was how limited the menu was. We wanted to try their eisbein but it wasn't even on the menu.
The waiters are eager to assist. They brought a water bowl with ice for our small foxie. There are also menu items for pets available. Gardens are beautifully kept and it is pleasant to sit outside. Food portions are generous.Food: 4/5
Nice place! Went for dinner with the family. I had the household name Eisbein and that one definitely did not disappoint. Came with mash and krautsalat. Selection of beers is not bad either. Personally, I don’t like the Lions River KZN beers. They smell funny and taste sour. Also the Nottingham Road Brewing Company beers look great and it’s fun tasting them but they too taste too flat for proper craft beer - don’t really have that zing and grit you expect from a craft beer. So just stay with the classics they have on tap. The fillet and tomahawk steak were amazing. Salads too. The pan fried trout serving of trout was a bit tiny. Location is fun. Parking right in front of the door. Music is a wild mix.
After weeks of eisbein cravings, managed to satisfy every single ounce at Bierfassl with absolutely scrumptious eisbein enjoyed in the amazing setting of the Midlands!!! Between our party, we had the viking eisbein, sausage platter and chicken schnitzel. Worth every cent
Oooh we really had a great time here and their bucket of chips is to die for. The downfall was kitchen closed at 15:30 while we wanted to enjoy more chips but we soon realized most places around close the very sametime. Beer tasting and Gin tasting
Bierfassl Restaurant is such a viby place. We had lunch on my husband's birthday, 23rd October. We listened to old school music which was perfect for the ambience. My hubby ordered the veg platter and I the much raved about eisbein with mash, veg and sauerkraut. We also had the beer palet as well. This was a first for me cos I haven't as yet acquired a taste for beer but the cappuccino one was good. The portions are huge. I had to take doggie for my supper... there was no place at all for . We left with happy tummys. The Manager, Deven and his staff are truly excellent hosts. I was chuffed at using robot which I thought was such a cool idea rather than shouting out to your waiter. Red if u need attention, green u OK or maybe I go this wrong and if it's placed flat on the table you ready to pay your bill. So my hubby asked the waitress what happens if you not happy with the meal...I said you roll the robot on the table . We will definitely go back to Bierfassl and we thank you for you delicious food
The place was full as usual and we had to take a table outside. It was cold but the manager offered blankets to keep us warm, the service was good but the waitress was a bit uncertain about some menu options. The eisbein was cooked to perfection but the sauerkraut wasn't pickled properly. All in all, a good experience and it is well worth a visit
Great, love the setting and the food I had was very tasty. One suggestion the staff can work on welcoming the patrons and introducing themselves also to be able to elaborate on the menu.
