I am a surgeon who specialises in the surgery and care of children who need operations. I operate on newborn babies up to adolescents aged 13 years
Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see."
— John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States
My name is Caroline Zabiegaj-Zwick.
I started my career as an undergraduate at UCT, where I fell in love with the care of children, but it was only during my internship and community service that I fell in love with surgery as well.
I was fortunate enough to obtain a position at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, as a trauma medical officer, where I married my love of caring for children and surgery. After some time, there I got a position in paediatric surgery at Tygerberg Hospital where I completed my training in paediatric surgery and received my Fellowship of Paediatric Surgery as well as my Masters of Medicine in Paediatric Surgery.
I took some time off to have a baby, and am now working in the private sector.
My rooms are at N1 City Hospital, as well as at Rondebosch Medical Centre, but I do provide a service for a number of hospitals in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.
