Luckily I had a helpful officer and had a relatively pain-free experience opening a case for my stolen phone. I, unfortunately, cannot say the same for the poor lady that was sat next to me. She came in to report a potential kidnapping of her friend, as an encounter with some men a couple hours prior had gone south. This lady had broken nails, scruffy hair and was in quite a state. She was still intoxicated from the night before, so the police refused to help her. The one officer called her a "dirty Xhosa" before telling her to go home to sleep. Even if she was intoxicated, I feel this is quite a time-sensitive ordeal and the blatant disregard and disgusting way they dealt with her should not be how the police help someone. I really hope the young lady who was potentially kidnapped is okay, no wonder gender-based violence is so high in this country if police disregard cases like this so quickly
I would like to thank sergeant Isaacs who assisted me so promptly telephonically and when I walked in regarding my recent accident I had. He was very professional and informative. REALLY greatful to still have such diligant staff protecting us.
I got assaulted and my phone stolen at a lounge in Cape Town and whilst on the day/morning of the incident when I called the station it wasn't helpful. I went on Wednesday 8 June and I must give high praises to Sgt Saaiman for being genuinely compassionate and helpful with my case. My case is not resolved but dealing with him has given me some hope for service level of SAPS after a run-around at several other stations. We need more diligent officers like him and Cape Town Central Police Station is extremely lucky to have him.
We went into the central police station in the middle of the night for a smash and grab incident which happened in the morning. The police officers were so friendly, all of them and helpful and did not hesitated for a second to help us! Big thank you to police officer Preston, who immediately took action! We were very impressed!
Nobody answers the phone. I think if there's one place that should be on top of answering the phone it would be a police station. Would give zero stars if I could
A huge thank you to police officer Kenneth and his partner who were so helpful. They both really went the extra mile! Their friendliness was a bonus
If you are looking for time to waste then this is definitely the place to be. Worst customer service I have experienced, went in person to open a case so I can get a case number, was told there is no data typist on duty. Phoned today to follow up, only for the whole constable to initiate an argument with me that it's not his problem. They need to improve their telephone etiquette!!
There's no order at this police station!! Today I tried to certify a few documents and there was only 1 officer on duty to do this. No designated area set aside for certifying documents, it's just a random person behind a mobile desk doing this with an assistant. All done at the entrance to the police station, with no masks on!
I had gone to the police station at around 1 AM to report a missing person case and to ask for assistance with locating the missing individual. Instead Me and the person i was with were met with a barrage of victim blaming, shaming of the missing individual for going out late at night and a general lack of Apathy and compassion for the situation that we were in at the time. Instead of trying to assist us with locating the missing girl they suggested that she may just be out club hopping at clubs that illegally stay upon after curfew. Even though this didn't make any sense given all of the information that we had given to them about the case. Captain Chetty is not someone that should be liaising with the public in any capacity as she did not provide as with any assistance but even worse than that she actively hindered the process of finding the missing girl. This is not the behavior I would expect from anyone that is tasked with leading the South African police Service! The Captain seems to believe that part of her role in policing is instead to further harass the family of the victim and exacerbate the already stressful situation. The entire process of opening the missing person case took almost 3 hours to complete. i don't know how long this process should be but it seems to me that this was excessive in the extreme and it was time that we could have spent looking for the missing girl that could have been in alot of trouble for all we knew. I would like for immediate action to be taken against Captain Chetty and her command of the Central Police Station as she is in no way capable of leading the South African Police Service in one of the most critical police stations in Cape Town.
A bunch of incompetent people . They never answr the phone and never listen . U can explain nicely and say there's noise pollution around the corner from u csn yoy help. They don't go and make the people turn down the music after 11 at night . They seem to be deaf cause the whole area can hear its like a tomorrow land festival. But when parliment is burning u find all of them coming to serve like they want to work . Clearly they are most unreliable service . Kak .
