Great venue in the city centre for large events up to 200 seats or so!
If your into visiting architectural gems. This is one of Cape Towns finest. A must see inside. An exemplary piece of classical architecture built by the early settlers of Cape Town. Circulation is around the dome with books dating back to early 19th century.
Lovely historic building on the inside.
What a hidden gem AND I've been informed that this gracious building can be rented for private functions.
Was invited to attend a function here. Love the hall. Very spacious and comfortable.
Really sad! Despite it being theoretically a "public place", security at the front argued for a while about letting me in. Then, followed me around as if I was going to steal something. Everything is locked up and there are no comfortable chairs for reading or anything like that. Seems very far from being a centre for the book - not a place to come and read or appreciate the space. Absolutely beautiful building wasted on its management.
This is such a beautiful building. Really underrated. Great place to have quiet time to read a book in a wood paneled hall. Great place for events and weddings. Come hungry for knowledge! Staff are welcoming and helpful. Loads of instagrammable sports. Please support this place with a donation before you leave!
Perfect venue for Book Launch!
Mostly a conference building, beautifully maintained and has some amazing architecture!
Beautiful venue. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
