Very friendly staff who all contributes to a great overall experience of treatment and who all works together as a team to help the specialists find a great treatment approach. Also very good post treatment follow up with patients. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
I was having light flashes in my left eye. Spent no more that 15 mins waiting to be called into the doctors rooms. Various test were done professionally. The doctor also explained what the problem was. I have worn spectacles since I was seventeen and after this visit I no longer require spectacles. Thanks to the Doctors and staff at Opthalmicare.
I went to Dr Eugene Meyer for an abscess near my eye, I was/am nervous about it and made him aware, he didn’t offer any sort of comfort or information to ease my mind and was quite rude with his tone, after the drainage was done on Friday - PS: no surgical gloves were used and I did not see him wash his hands prior to assessing me or making the incision/procedure, I was told to come back for a check up on Monday and to remove the bandage and gauze inside my incision, he literally RIPPED without warning out the gauze even though it was dry and stuck to the wound which was very concerning as he did not provide any comfort, didn’t make the gauze wet to easily remove it nor did he clean/wipe the area from the dry blood afterwards.. He just prescribed an ointment and did not give me any instructions or what I should expect from the incision healing process and what to look out for.. the only thing I was told by the receptionist lady was to wash it with boiled water after it’s cooled down.. before leaving the parking area, the wound started bleeding within a minute of leaving the Parking spot therefor I went back and the receptions/nurses weren’t sure what to do or if they should clean it ..she then called her “supervisior” for advice to which they then ended up cleaning it a bit and off i went .. I am concerned about the incision and I’m going to the doctor again for an assessment of the healing even thought it’s only been day 1 going onto day 2 of healing after he removed the gauze .. I hope that there is no repercussion to my health after his treatment and manner in which he handle my situation. I will not be returning to his practice nor recommending him to anyone and will make people as well as the doctor that referred me to him aware of my experience, I wouldn’t want to escalate this but will do if I have to, I hope that this isn’t taken lightly and more than just a learning experience and will improve drastically.
I have been to the Centurion Eye Hospital on three separate occassions with my child, today was my first time as a patient. It is an average of 2-4 hours out of your day if you go there and that is just the expected norm, if you speak to other patients waiting. The only doctor that is worth seeing is Charl Meyer Jnr, he is really great with kids and makes the parents feel at ease. He is the only one who seems to be passionate about his job. Maybe he should open his own practice, he'd be better off. As for the other doctors, they are like any specialist and I,'ve been to my fair share, 10+, they know best, they shoot down any other doctor's approach or advise because they're the specialist. They know what tests they are doing and what they're looking for, nothing gets explained, you are a money machine to them, all the patients get squeezed in like sausages in a sausage factory, generic with the same approach to each patient, zero bedside manner. I know even less than when I saw the Opthamologist and feel confused. I have to come back in six weeks' time if the drops don't improve my eye sight drastically, otherwise in 6 months and yearly thereafter for a multifocal test. That's it! So, you know as much as I do, pretty much nothing. Would not recommend the Centurion Eye Hospital at all. I heard Sandton or Sunninghill eye clinics are amazing. Honestly, I would rather take 45 minutes out of my day to drive there and have your concerns addressed than have absolutely 0 patient care.
More than 10 people in waiting room and only one doctor on duty. Three receptionists sitting there but not one will tell you there is a delay of what appear to be hours to see patients. I left after waiting about 45 minutes.
Would not recommend Dr Potgieter. My daughter was in the NICU and he did several eye tests on her, always early hours of the morning when parents were not allowed in. Not once did he phone me to explain if there was anything wrong. After she left the NICU he wanted to see her again and then decided she needed to come back once a month but said there was nothing wrong with her eyes. At my last visit I waited 3 hours for him with a 4 month old baby and he didn’t even apologise. After all of that I realised we were on the highest medical aid option and he was just bringing us back to claim for more money but there was nothing wrong with my daughter.
Dr Potgieter and his colleagues are always willing to go the extra mile. Super efficient and friendly.
My experience was 200% positive. Phoned 8am, got appointment for 2pm and was out by 3pm. Friendly and efficient staff and Dr Potgieter was excellent. Same standard of service my wife got from Dr vd Merwe a couple of months ago.
This is the worst service I have ever experienced. A month ago my Dr made an emergency appointment at a female Dr. I got there, the lady at front desk said I can sit Dr will be with me soon. I waited an hour, every one was helped before me When I asked what is going on they forgot about my file. I was told that the Dr left already for home. I saw a Dr van Der merwe, he didn't even explain what is going on, did a few test and petscribed drops, must come back in a weeks time when I phoned he was fully booked. So I asked if I can see another Dr. She was only available in a week and a half. I came there asked me to sit solong. Then a male Dr came. So I didn't want to see him, but I just went in anyway. He did some test use words that only Dr would understand. Then told me to wait outside. I vsar there for on other hour, didn't say what I was waiting for. When I asked one of the nurses what's going on, she said she's new, and don't know. She spoke to the Dr, he just ignored me. I stood up and asked where can I I could put complaints in. They only give an email address. This was the 3rd Dr that I saw there. No person skills from all off them. Incompetent reseption.
I went for my annual checkup mid February 2021. After many hours I was told that there was no problem with my eyes & I can call my daughter to pick me up. When I was about leave the doctor asked if I was diabetic. I said yes & he decided to do more tests. I was told that both my eyes needed laser treatment but the left eye was more urgent. The laser treatment was done to my left eye. To date my left eye is not normal & very painful at times . I went back for a further check up & was told that there is no problem. I am now being attended to by another eye care clinic. They were fixing something that was not a problem & have now created a problem which I am not sure will get rectified.
