Delhi Dharbar North Indian Cuisine Restaurant

Delhi Dharbar has developed a reputation as somewhat of a niche restaurant for North Indian Cuisine. It has over the years cultivated an almost zealous following, and is regularly fully booked regardless of the time of year or month. What draws this response is the unparalleled mix of Authentic Indian Cuisine, prepared by real North Indian Chefs, in a traditional clay Tandoori Oven.

The nature of cooking in an Authentic Tandoori Oven, with the practiced hand of a real North Indian Chef, results in flavours and tastes, that can’t possibly be replicated anywhere else. That combined with our flair for detail and subtlety mean, you will more likely than not, walk out feeling you’ve tasted the finest Indian Food in Johannesburg. Testament to this is a personal endorsement from Sachin Tendulkar, who after tasting the fare at our restaurant, autographed the walls, with a , declaration of how delicious the food was. As we say, Food fit for Kings!!

The menu includes a wide variety of Dishes, from Lamb to Chicken with a selection of options for milder palettes. Try us and you won’t regret it.

Recommendation
I was directed to this place by someone who probably did not know much about Indian food, I thought so. BUT, the food here is the best I ate after eating at three big restaurants in Sandton. The service is also the best - to the extent that I requested them to pack my lunch even before their normal operating hours - AND THEY DID. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Recommendation
Very tasty food, you will lick finger with every bite. You must order Prawn curry, Paneer Tikka and Lassi of course.

With a cold Cobra beer in hand I looked at the extensive menu, with my mouth watering! I had the lamb masala and wow was it tasty (and don't worry mild is mild so if you are not a fan of the heat you can still enjoy a meal). It was so good I had to try other meals, such as the classic butter chicken which was equally as good (again don't worry the portions are very substantial with rice provided... I just really enjoy curry!). The restaurant was clean and the service was good. It was an all-round good meal.

Whenever I go to Sandton then at least my 1 meal during the trip is fixed there as it gives proper Indian feel through it's food and taste. My colleagues from different countries also likes Indian cuisine served by them and mainly Rajasthani Masala BhindiFood: 5/5
Friends and I went for dinner, and decided on some Indian food for our evening out. Very quaint and authentic Indian spot with Pretty décor.  I’ve always wondered where it was situated, as I have never driven past Benmore Gardens. Now I know. They have a good selection of food to choose from, so there is a variety for any picky eaters. They brought us some “Papar” to nibble on with some Chutneys. A famous indian snack either fried or cooked made from sources such as peeled black gram flour, lentils, chickpeas, rice, tapioca, or potato.  We ordered a Veg starter Platter to share, with Tikka Paneer, Onion Bhaji, and 2 other items. I loved the taste and crunchiness of the Bhaji. My favourite. Service was pretty quick, and our food came in good timing as we were hungry. For mains, I was craving a mutton curry but couldn’t decide on which one, so I went with the traditional and ordered a Garlic & Chilli Naan, as I don’t really like rice with my curries. My friends ordered the Chicken Breyani, and the Lemongrass Fish, with naan. We all ordered medium in strength. Now, let me tell you this Mutton Curry kicked some serious butt!. It was really spicy but oh so tasty, the meat was tender and the gravy was just soo delicious. My naan also complimented it very well. The chicken breyani was also quite strong, but tasty even though i did expect something slightly different. The lemongrass fish, that’s something unique. It was completely different to what I expected. It has a nice taste, but need a bit of sauce to it. We did order desserts, but this is something that all indian restaurants fail at in my opinion. I have not gone to any indian restaurant where I have enjoyed dessert to date. I wanted Soji, and my friends had the Gulab and the Ras Malai. For me all 3 was a miss, although my friend enjoyed her Ras Malai. My soji lacked flavour and the texture was too solid. Would definitely come back for more starters and mains, decent food and good quality and service. #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerDrinks #TFMDelhiDarbar
The food was really delicious and the service was great. If you looking for tasty, flavourful Indian cuisine then this place is a must. I had a masala dosa and the flavours were so good, ill definitely be back. For mains I had a paneer tika masala and it was simply delicious
Everyone had their 'local'. This is ours. Food is always delicious. We've always done takeaways but one day we will dine in Vegetarian options: Great options. Food a bit salty but good nontheless
Terrible experience. Menu said Platter for two-R140 but it was presented in a side plate, it looked like a starter portion and was just enough for one person, let alone two to share. I felt deceived. It was quite over priced!
Great food. A little over priced but nice portions and friendly staff Vegetarian options: Nice range of veg dishes Parking: Not alot of parking available. Quite busy area
Sad to say that the best Indian around was a huge disappointment tonight, and only because they were woefully understaffed. Many annoyed Uber drivers, patrons who’d come to collect in person and people eating in. Told to collect 20 mins after I ordered. My food was ready after an hour. Bhaji’s tasted like they’d been refried, samosas undercooked & greasy, the peshwari naan wasn’t a peshwari naan, and I don’t even know what the curry tasted like because I’d list my appetite at that point. I’m ready to drive there & demand my money back . That can wait til tomorrow though.
Tiny portions... I ordered a 2 for 1 from Mr D but I'm pretty sure Delhi Dharbar just split one portion into two separate containers. The curry itself was incredible! I haven't had such a tasty curry in a while. I'm just disappointed in the stinginess of it.
Great! Loved it. This is traditional Indian, not Woolies Indian, but I certainly recommend dinner here. Loved the layout of, and variety in the menu. Loved everything we ordered. Absolutely loved the leftovers we took home and had for lunch the next day. Loved who the chef goes out of his way to turn savoury dishes into desert. The staff were friendly. Love the gluten free items l could order and enjoy. The only thing I didn't love was the very, very, uncharacteristically small portion of traditional Indian ice-cream I was sent home with. We took cold dessert to eat at home and I was super disappointed. So 1 out of 11 was not to be loved. 4.5 out of 5 rating. 10 out of 10 will return. They have a generator so you can eat there when loadshedding is preventing you from cooking at home.
We ordered the chicken korma, butter chicken and lamb jogan rosh. All curries were super tasty and the lamb was the most tender lamb I've had in a curry in a very long while. Definitely worth 5 stars! PS the cheesy Naan is an absolute must.
