Great place to wind down. The dining was spectacular although some of the meal portions in the restaurants were smaller than I had expected. Great variety from the breakfast buffet. There are many pools to choose from and also access to the non swimming private beach. The rooms are spacious, neat and tidy, however, the location being in Durban, I saw one or two cockroaches in our room.
Absolutely loved this resort. So peaceful and staff was very friendly and professional. Enjoyed the Indian food from ossa and their cocktails are to die for especially after after a long day. Can't wait to visit again. I would recommend it to anyone in need of a good rest. The ocean is just at ur door step and there are a lot of games for kids as well. And not to mention the spa.
This is the most beautiful place I've visited this far and i had an amazing time. The first hotel iv visited that i felt at ease during check-in and check out. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. Our shuttle driver was an old Indian man I didn't get his name but I'm extremely grateful for his services.Siyanda and Sfiso at 31° served us till we got wasted. The snack platter is a nice touch. All in all it's classy, it's luxury and value for every dime we spent and I'm definitely going to go visit again
It felt like we were in little heaven. The room looked amazing, the bed linen was clean and tidy. Incredible ocean view from the room window. Great room service and staff was very friendly. Breakfast was amazing. Swimming pools, bars, restaurants, children's play area, ocean. Overall we had a great time. Bringing the kids next time
Amazing resort with plenty of activities to choose from. You can fit a giant truck inside those rooms. Stunning ocean views and great service. It's great for a family excursion whether it's for a long weekend or an extended stay. Great to visit throughout the year. I found the staff to have an in depth knowledge of the area, was very helpful and willing too assist at times.
Amazing place for an anniversary celebration. We received a complimentary upgrade to a lovely suite, with champagne and chocolates in the room and an amazing seaview. Excellent service all round and great facilities. Dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious. Really enjoyed our stay
My review is regarding the Coral Tree restaurant dinner service. Standards have dropped significantly... staff are inattentive and cannot follow basic instructions. Presentation is sloppy. Ordered a cappacino which was ice cold..... still waiting for my waitress to bring a teaspoon for it. Spoke to the manager who tried to remedy the situation but really could not do anything useful for us. Breakfast service was great... for dinner I definitely advise eating elsewhere. Perhaps La Piazza up the road which is well worth it and will not disappoint.
Picturesque views and tranquil environment - that’s where it ENDS. My wife and I have made the Fairmount Zimbali Resort a yearly retreat where we could relax at one of the many swimming pools, enjoy a scrumptious snack whilst sipping on a delicious cocktail. Unfortunately, over the past 3 years, we have been exposed to diminishing standards from both the restaurant and hotel staff. Our last trip was on the 15th November 2018, which turned out to be a complete waste of money as this facility is poorly managed with absolutely no drive towards customer satisfaction. We visited the Ayoba café situated at the beach club for lunch, after 15 minutes of been seated with no service I eventually had to walk up to a waiter and ask for our orders to be taken. As I have various food allergies, it is important to understand the contents and how certain dishes are prepared – of which the waitress could not provide any assistance. Service was negligible as I had to physically go to a waiter to order something additional. Needless to say, the price of food is definitely not worth the taste. The 31-degree bar located in the lobby area was not well stocked and we had long led times before we received our orders. The standard of the high tea plater has dropped significantly when compared to past experiences– the variety of snacks was less, the cakes and scones were not palatable dry and the bread tasted stale. In terms of the rooms, some plug points were not functional, the telephone plugs were disconnected of which I reconnected myself and flat pillows and poor room service has resulted in an unpleasant stay. On one occasion, it took 5 calls and 3 hours before receiving a bottle of water and shower gel in the room. On a separate occasion, no answer after 5 attempts resulted in walking down to the concierge to order water. The hot water bottle turndown is a nice service but is unpleasant when the previous night's hot water bottles are not removed from bed when the room is tidied the next morning. The breakfast buffet lacks variety when compared to the likes of other 5 star hotels in Umhlanga and Durban. The seating area is not large enough to accommodate the hotel guests, let alone accommodating Zimbali lodges guests. Even though breakfast was included in our room rate, the waiting period experienced one of the mornings and poor standard of food replenishment resulted in us having breakfast, on two occasions, at a nearby restaurant in Ballito Lifestyle Centre. I have expressed my disappointment to guest relations Mark, which I have been rest assured that he would look into the matter and provide me with feedback – up to now I have received NONE! In summary, poor management, lack of interest and poor customer service from staff has definitely overshadowed the beautiful location. As a loyal guest, I am reluctant to go back and would not recommend this resort as it is not worth the value for money.
Pretty avarage experience. The views are great and the location is amazing. The staff leaves a lot to be desired though. After many confirmations they still managed to lose reservation or not know exactly what was happening. They also made their lack of comms the guests problem. 5 star views with 2.5 star service.
Was there for a Congress. Usually at these food from a buffet generally disappointing or uniformly bland. Here this was definitely not the case. All meals superb quality, taste and variety. Check in check out efficient. All staff friendly and obliging. All queries quickly and efficiently sorted. A great experience!
