John Dorys Fish, Grill, Sushi. - Shelly Beach

We were pleasantly surprised by this John Dory's restaurant. It exceeded all our expectations in terms of the yummy food, the excellent and warm service and relaxed atmosphere. We had a platter and were quite surprised by the portion. The calamari tubes were by far some of the best calamari I've ever had. Our waitress was absolutely lovely, it's a pity we didn't get her name as we would love to give her kudos for being so warm and accommodating. We will definitely be returning as it was a great experience overall.

The service at this restaurant is fantastic. My food arrived fast and was prepared perfectly. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Food was excellent with huge portions that were tasty and presented on lekker-looking plates. On the other hand the service was meh and the waitress disappeared halfway through the meal. We called the soda fountain ladies to assist us and things improved. The play area is great fun. Good venue.

The prices are a bit steeper than the restaurants surrounding it however their food are very high quality. You can really see that they have a head chef who cares and leads properly as they also came out at one point to ask customers how their food was. We had a milkshakes and shared a calamari main between two people, for which they separated the meal themselves onto two plates and served it to us magnificently. We did not even ask for that much effort and yet they delivered

Love John Dory's Shelly Beach, went twice in one week, food excellent so are the service. Very busy and we were 8 people and the waiter managed the service well. Sushi took a bit long but well worth the wait. Welkom in the Free State don't have a JD so we used the opportunity at best. Thank you.Food: 5/5

Rude service. We ordered a take away, and after paying, we were told it would take 40 minutes. An hour later, a waiter realized it was already prepared. Ended up with luke warm hake and room temp sushi...Food: 3/5

June 2021. GREAT disappointment! Went there for a Birthday celebration. The actual menu differs from Google ads. They don't serve the Mussel pot as advertised. My dish, 12 prawns special was messy , small and tasteless. SHAME on you !! In our party , the hake with prawns and sauce was rubbery. However, service was good and restaurant clean and bright . Will be hesitant to try this restaurant and menu again ! Cannot recommend.

Waste of money. Rude waiters and managers who do the typical I'm sorry mara it is what it is attitude. My lunch was unseasoned I told the waiters and was told to add salt and pepper to my food. Okay shap then why am I paying you to make food??

Food is small portions cuting back on quality for the sake of price hand a ¼ chicken 120grams and 4 small pawns.. not worth the price.. it was not busy and we waited 47min for our food.. wil not be back AGAIN.. OVERALL 4/10.Food: 1/5
