As far as botanical gardens go, I haven’t been to too many. This one focuses on the natural beauty of the landscape versus sculptures or man made gardens. It’s very pleasant and relaxing to walk through the gardens and sit and take in the backdrop of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles mountains. We were here in June and most of the flowers were not blooming since it is the winter season. It was still worth visiting. You can spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours and feel satisfied.
Magical. A must see. Truly spectacular natural beauty. Walking, picnic. Lots of open spaces with perfectly kept lawns. Every imaginable plant with mountain streams and magnificent views and mountains. Green, lush, beautiful with 3 restaurants and clean, well kept bathrooms. By chance I saw an old acquaintance with her family from Pretoria, Potchefstroom and the Netherlands, as they were taking photos at a stream in Kirstenbosch.
Step into beauty as you navigate these gardens with incredible views of mountains behind the foliage. Make a time of it. Enjoy a picnic. Just roam and take in the sights.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Absolutely beautiful - manicured grounds, excellent walkways, surrounded by very tall mountains. Cute restaurants with good food - Mayo in particular had a great view as well. Wish I could have spent more time there,Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Breathtaking views and flora. Long and seemingly endless pathways making it impossible to see the entire place in one visit. Entrance is affordable and the place is suitable for a whole family. Canopy bridge walks and Jurassic exhibits are my personal favourite parts.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Talk about a gorgeous venue . I went there for a concert started at 6pm and it was breathtaking. The music and overall vibe was relaxed yet fun. Go there early to secure a seat right in front of the stage. It's picnic themed - So, bring your own food, beverages, and blanket. It gets chilly at night, so remember to dress warm. Perfect activity for individuals who love nature. Quality experience indeed NB! They don't sell anything at the venue. Oh, and no smoking is allowed. Picnic area: Open gardern, beautiful trees and
It is a huge botanical garden with great variety of plants that I have never seen before. Highly recommended place to visit for tourists coming to Cape Town. Visitors should spend at least half a day here. We visited on Sunday, there is no guided tour on weekends. We just explored the place on our own. Though there are map, sign boards and pointers, we weren't able to cover the whole area since the place is huge. There is a restaurant inside called Moyo, price is reasonable and have variety of choices including local South African food.
The garden is amazing and well maintained. The canopy walk is nice but not that long. I wouldn’t go if you just want to do the canopy walk. However if you here for the flora, you’re in heaven. The view is also amazing!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
My second experience in a long time was very refreshing and amazing. How wonderful was it not to disconnect from the realities of life and connect with nature in the beautiful vicinity of Kirstenbosch. It was so refreshing , it felt like renewal on another level . The services at the Mayo Restaurant was excellent. The staff members are so well mannered and kind hearted. The African dish that I had was amazing and the Strawberry milkshake is highly recommended. I'm really looking forward to visit again.
What’s not to like of this gardens! Everything is breathtakingly beautiful. The gardens are kept in excellent condition. There are so many benches to rest on and many comes to spend the day just having a picnic and spending time with their loved ones. We come to hike and have picnics. It’s the perfect way to spend a lazy day or to exercise if you prefer to. There are more than enough toilets on the premises and a shop to buy gifts etc. just love it!
