Kruger National Park phunda maria

We had a good time at this camp site, but the bathrooms were a nightmare, it was extremely dirty and smelled a lot. Considering the money that the kruger national park is making it should be able to upgrade or at least upkeep the bathrooms of the campsites. All the bathrooms of most of the camp sites were neglected, but punda maria was the worst. Regarding the camp sites, plug points are far apart so be sure to take an extension with you. The view was spectacular the animals come to drink water throughout the day and night so do try to get a stand overlooking the water hole. The restaurant was not as nice as the rest of the other camp sites but it was decent and looked clean.

The showers at the campsite didn't have hot water. Housekeeping in general is bad compared to other camps. The hide and water hole is lovely. I changed my review to 4 stars after the staff listened to our complaints and resolved the issues experienced.Rooms: 3/5

Lovely campsite, all amenities are working. Big blue pool to cool down any time of the day. Food was great at the restaurant. Didn't really have many fresh vegetables at the shop. There is a spotlight at the hide, which is great to view the elephants that come in the evening at about 7ish.Service: 5/5

Spent 3 amazing nights camping here in April and really enjoyed the quiet camp sites. Ablutions are old but clean and functional. Lovely pool to cool off in on the hot summer days and pizza, yes, Pizza at Punda restaurant. The Bird hide overlooking the dam has a constant hustle of animals coming to drink day and night. Can't wait to return on our next trip to KNP.

Our First experience of the Northern parts of the Kruger was more than expected, Punda Maria unfortunately lack of maintenance and some monkeys helping them to biscuits and fruit, the overall stay was amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The birdlife is spectacular. The lookout to the dam at the fence is a bonus so my experience was one for the books and I will definitely return as soon as possible.

Visited 12 rest camps in The Kruger, and this was our favorite due to proximity of blind right in camp overlooking spring fed water hole. Hundreds of elephants, & buffalos, and birds. Just missed seeing wild dogs when we arrived.Location: 5/5

We camped there for 4 days. Stunning place. Nice little shop, good restaurant, great take out braai sides!Service: 5/5

Rooms are very basic. Quite dark, like many older thatched chalets. But beds were comfortable single beds only, all windows have insect/monkey screens on them and rooms are air-conditioned. The generator on site wasn't working though - so no aircon during load-shedding. The camp has lots of trees, and a nice pool, so it is a pleasant place to relax between game drives.

What a pleasant surprise! Old-world charm. I expected Jock of the Bushveld to come rolling through the rustic camp! Friendly staff and excellent food.
