We had three short days of pleasure at this unique boutique national park, which is also a world heritage site. It holds surprises around every corner, and the guided heritage tour is very enlightening with respect to the ancient history of our continent. Thank you Mr Masalesa for the insight and knowledge that you shared with us. Special mention for Given and Solly who went out of their way to make our stay at the campsite more pleasurable and Bafana who accommodated our needs at the museum, with permission from his supervisor. All staff made us feel like welcome guests. Other highlights include the bountiful wildlife and spectacular views at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers. 10 out of 10 for an enthralling, breathtaking journey into our continent's history.
You don't want to miss it ! Wonderful discoveries. Our guide, Cedric, was great and interesting. Interesting history of that place, plus great geology views. Loved it.
Although I didnt get to see all there was to see, despite arriving just as they opened Mapungubwe's game drive routes are unique compared to many SanParks I've been to! Great for those who look for game sightseeing in under 4 hours... DO visit the Museum to hear more about the World heritage site!!!! Make sure you ask about the confluence of Zim, Bots and SA at Shashe river..or else you might miss it.
It was a truly wonderful experience and it is highly recommended for a short stay, so much to see and experience
Nature at its best. The Ech 4x4 route was the best we have ever done. Sadly the facilities at OUR world heritage site are not maintained. Interactive screens in museum not working, curio shop almost empty and closed. Please do not ask for cappuccino - short answer "I dont know that". Kudus for the 10 tins of cooldrink in the freezer....... Toilets at lookout point was filled to the brim and basin full of rubbish. The smell is undescribable. The Service/attitude of staff at main gate = disinterested and zero knowledge. Playground: Not a place for under 12 Restrooms: Read comment above. The campsite fasilities was serviced every morning - this guy did not understand the map, but he knew the best routes - loved sharing about animals he saw on his way over. Dog-friendliness: Not allowed Picnic area: Only use formal hide areas
Nice national park, stayed at the open park camps was very scaredbut nothing bad happened. Showers were open and houses open to the park. Network poor, reception not always open. Feels little unsafe unless you not scared of wild animals. Resturant options not many is more of a shop. Not a lot of options to do during the day.
Very nice park with lots of wild animals, pleasant SAN Parks staff and Tshugulu lodge was exceptional - clean, very spacious and tranquil! The heritage significance of the national park was nostalgic. Loved the confluence of Shashe and Limpopo rivers as well as seeing the iconic Mapungubwe hill. SANP Parks have done a great job conserving the environment and the massive baobab trees. Great experience overall!! Highly recommended!!
Beautiful and quiet Nationalpark in a wonderful landscape. By just driving the "main" roads we saw many animals. The picnic side was already occupied by baboons :-. It is worthwhile to walk to the viewing points overlooking Limpopo river where you have the view of the 3-countries-corner South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We have not seen predators but were only there between 11.00 am and 4.30 pm, so not a perfect time to see cats. Picnic area: Overlooking Limpopo river valley not fenced
Unique in every way: The landscape The wildlife The tree diversity The wide variety of birds The camp site, Mazhou
Absolutely beautiful place. The Lodges are really far from the entry you need 30 mins and in the middle of nowhere. The cabanas are really nice and have an amazing view. There was a public pool where the elephants drink sometimes. The park does not have all the big 5 but leopards, elephants and apparently also some lions. Really nice place, recommended 1000%! Restrooms: The public restrooms are a bit difficult. Not very clean and empty, Sometimes snakes and animals inside.
