Had an operation on 22 June 2023 and I have received quality and friendly service from staff from Admissions, Orthopaedic Female Ward and especially Theatre staff that went out of their way to make me feel safe. Everything went smooth from being admitted all the way to my discharge.
Went there to accompany my husband the covid19 girls refused me an entry mind my hubby had one hand he couldn't write or open the door . Well I went to sit in the car waiting for him to come back while waiting a family of six walked into the ER no one said anything to them Poor service and racist behavior
WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THIS HOSPITAL??? Why do people have to sit and WAIT For 6 HOURS Before Being Seen !!! Then, Again You have to WAIT Because, Now there is Only ONE Doctor to see you!!! Absolutely Not Acceptable, Especially From COSMOS Hospital. It breaks my Heart. Supposedly the BEST.... But Now Falling Apart.
One of the best experiences in a hospital by far. The staff from admission right through to ward personnel were friendly and very helpful and patient. A special thanks to the Orthopedic ward room 3.
My husband was rushed to the EU with a severe dog bite and in tremendous pain - he had to wait for 4 hours, without even a single pain medication given to him. There are qualified nurses working there that are employed to help patients - she could at least put up a paracetamol drip or request the attending medical doctor to prescribe something for pain while he was waiting. Upon being attended to, the medical doctor said that the sisters should have requested him to write a pain prescription. The nurse had the audacity to even say that if we don’t have patience to wait then we should go somewhere else. He was then told that the fractured bone was only going to be attended to on Monday - we had then decided to drive him to Johannesburg where they had found that the patient wasn’t sutured correctly and that he is lucky to have came so soon as the infection from the dog bite was spreading and he needs to be attended to immediately. He was then put on an antibiotic drip and operated on promptly. The hospital staff, specifically the nurses need to be trained to help and assist patients with empathy, as this is their role to play. Very disappointing.
Worst hospital ever. First they make you wait for hours to be attended to like you are in a public hospital. I went to the emergency unit on Saturday with my fiancé for lower abdominal pains. We then saw a GP who told us we would have to be admitted to the maternity ward in order to be treated. First, we didn’t want to be admitted. But straight up told us we wouldn’t get treated without a hospital admission - first red flag. We then asked if we could go home once we confirm that the baby if fine. The GP/other doctor said yes. We were then transferred to the maternity ward where we saw a gynae who checked the baby and confirmed that everything was fine but misdiagnosed me. He told me I had really high bladder infection. Mind you, my urine tests were fine. He somehow saw a UTI from blood tests, not urine. When we told him we wanted to leave and get a second opinion from my gynae in Johannesburg. He told us to sign papers for refusal of treatment when the other doctor had told us we would be able to leave. He then proceeded to say that the infection could lead to miscarriage if leave. Fine, so we asked him to give us a prescription so we could buy antibiotics and treat it ah home. He then proceeded to say that it can’t be treated with oral prescription. I had to be in hospital to get the drip. I ended up staying the night. In the morning he came back with a nurse saying the infection had increased and that I would have to be there for a few days. And no he still couldn’t write me a prescription. This is when we refused and insisted on leaving and drove to Netcare Johannesburg where we were told that I don’t have any infection. The blood results are supposed to be high because I’m pregnant. After being pumped with antibiotics for nothing and somehow “almost “ forced to be admitted for “a few days” at life cosmos. If you can and can afford to, please go to another hospital. The doctors here only care about getting money from your hospital stay. Your life comes after. They will do anything to get you to “be admitted “ Update: a month later, they never called back after they called saying they were investigating. They just claimed, got their money and kept it moving. Oh and the doctor is Dr Ratsatsinyane. Stay away from him and this hospital if you want to live.
Very helpful and efficient staff in the EU/casualties. While in Pre-admission both the Dr. on call & Nurses provided regular updates and valuable information pertaining to the status of the patient. The country needs more health workers like them. We appreciate the exceptional service. Thank you!
Worse experience ever. At some point j felt like im at the public hospital. They actually kept me in the room for hours with no attendance and my baby is crying non stop. I regret, and i say i regret. "Munhu angafa aha yimele ku pfuniwa kuve ani pfuniwi mahala". I would never refer someone to this hospital. Worse i ever came across.
I must give a five star rating to cosmos orthopedic ward.. Thank you so much for the excellent care. You guys are great. So grateful for the care received from all the staff. Even the cleaning staff. Lillian from the the kitchen could work in a restaurant food appearance and taste genuine the best. Don't know all the names but thank you everyone.
I finally gathered strength to write this after 3 years because I’m now less emotional and I think I can voice out my experience. The maternity nurses were so emotionless, it’s strictly business! At some point when I needed assistance one nurse told me I’m not the only patient they have. I had a C-section and was really having it bad. I was also in the same ward as their head of cleaners. A white lady , she also just had a baby. So the care she got compared to how I was treated was completely different. She also treated me very bad, I had to be moved to another ward because she refused to turn the air con down, the room was freezing! Mind you my baby was already with me in the ward She claimed that she misplaced the remote. I was later told as soon as her son was brought to the ward the remote was found!
