This only one star is given to the sales staff inside. As the counter staff inside, there is no service, especially their work attitude, seems to be traveling rather than serving customers. For such a famous chain, I don't know if their counter cashiers have service training because they don't show any respect for their guests, I feel that I use a fully loaded cart and receive no help when paying Very disappointedIf you're looking to shop in bulk, the checkout counter here will be one reason you won't want to come back
Service is good. Adequate stock .There is a big concern though regarding the entrance in to the road before the entry and exit gate...I find that the road is not marked adequately as we are frequently having to avoid head on collision due to drivers when exiting are always in the oncoming lane . Please could someone do something about this. I hope nothing horrible happens before some one tries to rectify the problem...it is a matter of urgency
Be aware my 2 gas bottles was overfilled causing huge flames! Very dangerous!
Massive department store for you to get most of shopping done. I was especially impressed with the hi tech electronics department with some state of the art television sets on sale. Prices are reasonable and standard with all competitors. Parking is widely available and secure. I did however feel awkward at the money market when a lady there as I was opening a Makro card kept asking me why I was in the country and not staying in my own country,, among other related questions. I almost felt like I'd to apologise for being a foreigner . That being said, I found other staff to be quite friendly. The guy who helped me find what I was looking for, the staff in the camping and outdoors section that struck up small talk with me while I shopped around, and the till slip checker at the door who was very friendly.
Clean, Organised and clear signage. Staff is welcoming and always readily available to help. Make sure you have your store card when you go, you can make one online and in store. NB: If you so happened to forget yours, they do offer temporary cards. There is too a separate section for business wholesale with dedicated loading area. There is ample parking for individual customers as well. Overall pleasurable shopping experience.

Waited 15 minutes in line on a Friday at 10:30. Not enough cashiers. Clean store, fully stocked.
Makro advertises products on special that they don't stock in store or on their website. As advertised the Ol'roy Dog bed square large on a special of 2 for R250. We went in store to purchase these. We asked for help from a Makro employee named Disney, who left and never returned. Then asked another employee to assist named Ayanda. He returned with the purchaser for this isle, who informed us they never received the product. I wnet online to see which Makro does stock this item, but it is not even on their website....
I recently had reason to use makros online purchase, in store pickup service. I was delighted with this option, but felt it could be handled far better in store. I had to ask 2 different people at 2 different counters where the in store pickup point was. Turns out it's at the other end by the bulk purchases in what I assume is an admin office. They then had to go to another part of the store to fetch the item. Maybe this is still work in progress, but it definitely still needs work.
Excellent when it comes to in-house shopping and very friendly employees. Always busy. Makro needs to seriously improve on it online shopping. I would rather shop instore despite the crowds and queues, than use their online portal again. The Makro online store wastes more time than the queues and is actually more expensive than driving there and back.
