I am so happy with their service, everyone is so friendly and helpful. I had a landlord maintenance issue and Mckenzie van der Merwe & Willemse were there to help me get through the whole process seamlessly. I couldn't be more pleased with this law firm, they are fantastic!

The attorneys handled the sale of 2 of my properties in the middle of 2020, one in Kempton Park and the other one in Jeffreys Bay. All went well with the documentation and transfer of the properties. I waited a long time for my rates refund from the Kempton Park municipality as there were system changes at the municipality. Isabel Hogan, at the attorney, first told me that I must go to the municipality and request the refund. I went to the Kempton Park municipality, but there is a big board that states that rates refunds are only sent to the transferring attorney, and the municipal clerk also confirmed this and said that they attorneys know this! I wasted a half a day in the queue for nothing! Eventually I received my rates refund via the attorneys. Hurray!!!!! However, with the KOUGA municipality in the Western Cape, the rates refund have become a problem, as they first reflected that I had a credit of R8,186.73 and later on my next statement from the Kouga municipality, they reflected a transfer of R7,265.52...? I contacted the attorneys to ask for assistance in determining the correct amount that I should be credited from Kouga municipality. To my dismay their attitude, especially from Mr T Willemse, changed from being helpful to "...I don't want to know your problems. You must sort it out with the municipality, as we don't do their books! I cannot drive down to the Eastern Cape to solve your problem" All I wanted is to see them to discuss the correct credit due to me. Further to this he asked what was I doing all this time and why did I wait this long. I told him that I was dealing with Mrs I Hogan on this issue for over a year, and she kept telling me that her partner in Jeffreys Bay was handling it! It was obviously not true. I regret and am very disappointed in having given my business to them. It seems like that once you pay them, they want nothing to do with you and you're on your own...! There are other legal practises/Transferring attorneys in Kempton Park which according to some friends of ours are more helpful and have their clients interest at heart. Use them instead! UPDATE 13 April 2022 Yesterday I was copied on an e-mail which the abovementioned transfer attorney sent to the purchaser of my last property admitting to the purchaser that he had erred on the calculation of the recovery amount of my Kouga rates which I had paid 12 months upfront, and that they were to refund me the balance out of their private funds. This only happened after I sent the purchaser an e-mail claiming my rest of the rates. He then sent the transfer attorney an e-mail requesting an explanation! I am satisfied that this matter has now been sorted out, however the transfer attorneys could have saved themselves the extra expense had they been willing to see me when I informed them of the discrepancy and wanted to discuss it with them. For rectifying their error I am now happy to rate them 4 STARS. NOTE: 1 STAR short for their indifferent and curt attitude when requesting their assistance.

I cannot recommend MMW Attorneys enough. I am so pleased with their high level of professionalism and efficiency. My property transfer process was a dream.

To call them divorce lawyers is not really correct. Mrs Van der Merwe is my attorney for well over 30 years. Purchase of properties, sale of properties, setting up my will, sorting out my late husbands estate, etc. etc. I will never sign any contract before I have it checked out by Mrs van der Merwe. I'm sure that she also handles Divorce cases, but she and her partners can not be classified as Divorce Lawyers. Marlies
