Reminded me of my 4 week stay at Addington in 2016. This time it just cost more. Honestly hard to explain. Imagine having the emergency trauma doctor, the one tasked with emergencies when the patient's attending doctor is out, tell a worried mother "Not my job". Nurses don't know what to do then. Hard to keep a straight face while dealing with that. Props to the poor nurse trying to organize everything, she did great. When nurses just give you a slight nod to get your attention instead of saying "Hi there, I will take you where you need to go" instead of just chatting to the security guard and expecting us to follow. The worst part for me though is the paid parking. I can deal with lazy humans, rubbish attitudes and new staff that aren't properly trained. Paid parking though? Why on earth have paid parking at a private hospital when people are gravely sick and die. Imagine the stress of pulling yourself together after a VERY long day/night/week and getting in your vehicle, driving to the exit only to realize at the boom gate that you have no idea where your card is. Turn around and go sort it out, just what you needed, right? Management must have thought so.
Won't recommend this hospital for children being admitted. My ill 3yr old child had to wait over 2hrs to be admitted, treatment wasn't commenced when I got to the ward, she couldn't breathe, had a temperature of 39+. I waited for a bed infront of the ward carrying my sick child. Very disorganized. My child was suffering in my arms and I had to therefore demand medical attention from the nursing staff. Then only my child was given some of the medication that the Dr had prescribed which have had to be given Stat on arrival to the hospital. This is the service at Westville hospital.
This hospital is run by amazing people who treat their patients with utmost respect and empathy. Special thanks to the nursing staff at ward b. Sister Nombulelo Dlamini and Ayanda Gumede made my stay all the more pleasant. Keep up this fantastic standard.
ER staff was very indecisive took my brother shouting at them because they couldn’t decide on a stretcher or wheelchair, with 2 stab wounds on my back. However staff at High Care Taylor, Phumla, Damien, and the other RN Chantelle I think. But they are properly professional and very caring. Along with my treating Dr Dr Munasur. In as much pain as I was in, they made sure that my stay was as pain free as can possibly be done. Thank you to everyone there who made sure, I lived to tell the tale.
Took my daughter to the ER as she was throwing up for over 2 hours. A drip and meds were administered and about an hour and a half she was discharged. Her drip was just about 1/4 done. Got home and she immediately started throwing up, called the ER and asked to speak to the attending Doctor to enquire as to why she was discharged/whether we should bring her back and were told that we cannot speak to the doctor as that would be a consult. We should bring her in and admit her. So after sending R2000 plus we were back to square one. Pathetic service from the ER team.
I recently had a heart attacked and was rushed to Westville Hospital by a friend. My complaint is at the gate. We had to waste several vital minutes behind cars queueing to get their ticket to get through the boom gate. Really! Why is there no separate entrance for emergencies???
Seriously no 2 pin plugs, USB ports, only 3 pin in wards? Bring your own 2 pin plug is a joke. If hot coffee is offered in paed ward can the flask be filled with hot water pse and the parents not sent to a hot water boiler outside the ward while they cont.their social chat. Staff selfies on duty? Paed ward? Great focus!
Really poor service from the attending doctor L. Ramlakan in the Trauma unit. We aren't patients any longer. Just customers. Didn't have the courtesy to take my call 10 mins after leaving the hospital. Her reason. Doesn't do phone consults. Surely, as a doctor, you should have the intellectual capacity to differentiate between a phone consult and a simple follow query to someone you just attended to.
Westville "private" hospital service is absolutely terrible. My new born son was admitted into hospital and needed to be seen to every 2 to 3 hours due to complications. If it wasn't for my wife who also had spent the night my sons life would be at risk. The night nurse was caught sleeping on the job. When my wife asked her to check up on my son she refused to attend to him. I am shocked that a private hospital has such poorly trained staff. There was absolutely no reassurance from the nurses during their stay. The only time they came into the room was to get some tape. I don't know whose life/whose child's life this message can save but I would.never recommend this hospital to anyone. In order for him to have been admitted r14 000 had to be paid there and then. He ended up staying for less than expected and the refund took forever to be issued. This message was typed about 2 and a half weeks after he was discharged and not a cent was returned. I would rate their services 0/10
Westville Life Hospital can be compared to a government hospital. I'm a RN/RMand it was shocking to see how the private sector has gone down the drains. The food was shocking. Mushy noodles with a piece of cheese on top and three blackened carrot pieces as vegetables. Lights didn't work. The night staff didn't give pain medication for 95min after I had asked for it 3 times. I have no complaints about the Dr and the Theatre Staff. But what disgusting service from a hospital which you need to pay so much money for teribble service. And looking at the previous reviews, it seems Life Healthcare only responds to positive reviews!!
