We have been to Mongena 3 times now. This was by far my best experience. All the staff and the food was FANTASTIC! Our game drives were incredible…. Our ranger Andrew, was knowledgeable, super friendly and went out of his way to find all the animals! We saw lions 3 days in a row. Will definitely go back! Requesting Andrew from now on Safety: Perfect
Where do I start. What an incredible Holiday. From the kitchen to the game rangers, all the staff and service was probably the best I’ve ever experienced at a resort. So kind and polite and just genuinely wanting us to have a good time. There was a large group of us here for my sisters wedding. The venue was absolutely stunning. It was the best day and evening! We saw so much game on the game drives and had some close sightings that I’ve never experienced before! Would give more than 5 stars if we could!
Visited for the 9am game drive in late February, booked on the recommendation of some friends. It was such a magical experience I'll never forget. The lodge itself is lovely - spotless with beautiful grounds, and staff were very helpful. We ended up with a private drive around the reserve with Andrew, who was very knowledgeable. The drive itself was terrific - so many incredible sightings including multiple rhino, zebra, giraffe and many more. Loved it so much, would recommend to all. One note - the lodge is not well sign posted until you come across it so make sure you check your directions first!!
our room was big, very clean. much has seen better days but we liked it there. beds were comfy. there were issues with the faucet in the bathroom, definitely needs a new one. and the toilet-water-tank needed forever to fill up. we were not so happy with the restaurants, you had to wait a long time for anything, the food was average at best for breakfast and lunch. but we enjoyed our dinner. staff there was very nice though. we liked the location, saw many animals. Game drives were good and informative, we enjoyed time with the drivers. great for families.
We had an Amazing time. We did not want to leave. The accommodation was excellent well serviced and clean. From the time we checked in at reception to the cleaning and ground staff, waiter's and Game ranger's who greeted you everytime they saw us and the bar service was excellent The Kingfisher restaurant served amazing food thank you. A special thank you to Betty who made us feel so welcome on our first day at the restaurant. The braai was also well catered for. The game drive's were amazing and the boat cruise too. A special thank you to Andrew the game ranger and team who were so friendly and made us feel like family they went out of their way to educate us about the wildlife. We saw Giraffes,Zebra,Nyala, warthogs,a white rhino,a male and female lion and buffalo and so much more. There was also lot's of different bird's species. I would highly recommend Mongena private game lodge to anyone Annie Spangenberg. Thank you all so much for everything
Rooms are nice and compac and well cleaned every morning. Service at the restaurants are terrible, you wait between 15 to 30 minutes for someone to serves you. Location is great for seeing small animals like buck and warthog. Small birding is good, won't see birds of prey. Hardly see any predatory animals or larger animals like elephants. Does have some beautiful sunsets. There is a local town nearby so music can get very loud at night. Game drives are very good and informative depending on ranger. Otherwise it's driving around looking at Antelope and small animals. Boat cruise is great to have a drink and watch the sunset. There are lots of small children, so it can get quite noisy otherwise it's great for small children and families
I can only comment on the game drive - very disappointing - especially taking into consideration that you pay ALOT of money for it. We haven't seen 1 of the 5 big and our ranger was really bad - not giving more info. The pictures of the tracker sitting in front of the cruiser and the ranger talking to the guests - only a picture. Think our overseas visitors laughed about this. Noteworthy details: The game drives are not good - they should actually charge you a lot less and if you see one or two of the big five, then increase the price.
My wife Ann Martin and myself Donovan Martin had a dream vacation while staying at the lodge for four nights. We saw four of the BIG 5 on our tour. Our ranger Dillon was great. Our tour guide Darrel was the best. Thanks to Smart tours. We are still sharing with our friends and family.Rooms: 5/5
Everything was perfect. Such a nice place, great Staff, nice food and a good price. Thanks a lot! Nearby activities: Safari
Being there for a team building event, we had a great time at the Mongena lodge. Such a beautiful place. We especially enjoyed our 6am game drive thanks to our guides rangers Mike and Alexander who were so good at communicating to us the passion they have for what they do and patient in finding the Big5 as well as some smaller animals.
