Montagu Museum - Joubert House

Loved the herb garden. Unexpected but loved all the different smells. Nice piece of history beimg preserved

Beautifully restored homestead, which gives a good insight into days past. One of three museums you can visit for the price of one. There are not many historic homesteads open to the public, this was a treat.

Although this is an interesting establishment, and staff were on site, no assistance was given, we were left to explore on our own, we would have appreciated some information especially in the somewhat neglected herb garden.One wonders what the entrance fee is used for. Was met wit friendly old couple.. They guided and told the story of hous an people living in it

A MUST visit when in Montagu. I took the tour with a staff member who were very much knowledgeable about the history of the house and the herbal medicines. Beautiful looked after monument and garden with rich history.

Joubert House has quite a few examples of early South African life. It's easy to find being on the main road in Montagu. I especially enjoyed the Kitchen which has an interesting peach pit floor. There is also a very interesting piano. Well worth a visit.

Very interesting history in this old house. We were given a personal tour and that brought the old artifacts to life the hand cranked peach peeler is an example. Would recommend.
