Useless twits. They will stall for weeks and then copy and paste the bank’s letter as their conclusion. When questioned, they refuse to acknowledge facts plainly supported by evidence in their posession. I would be surprised if they ever make fair findings, based on this experience.
The banking ombudsman is an organisation established to protect banks, not consumers! Adjust your expecations because there is a relationship between private banks and the ombuds. They are big brother to banks. If you have a mediocre case they will assist. If you have a genuine case of fraud/corruption they will go cold for months. In that period try what you like, there is no investigation. If necessary the adjudicator will exclude evidence, but whatever they do they will protect the bank.
I put on a complaint regarding dodgy statements. In the final analysis; I received everywhere I went wrong, and this was highlighted and the bank protected. To be honest, I was underwhelmed but not surprised. I will never bother sending in a complaint. It is a major waste of time and effort. The bank is protected with ZERO accountability.
I complained to the Ombud last year about a bank missing an important deadline for deceased estates prescribed by South African law as well as the executor constantly breaking promises, contradicting themselves, not following up and creating unnecessary stress for the family. Their ruling was essentially that I was not allowed to complain as I was not the client; the deceased, my father, is. It appears they wish me to hold a séance in their offices so my father can tell them from the spirit realm that he is not happy with the way his final affairs have been handled and how his surviving family is being treated.
On the 29 June I've opened a fraud case with FNB. Case number 2022/1681066 assigned an investigating officer : Sthembiso Mhlambi. I've become a regular visitor to the bank without any update. I'm always told that he is either not at work and he will revert be to me which non of those have ever happened. I've emailed to fraud department the feedback will be sthembiso will revert back to you. This is so frustrating
Ineffective and have very little impact on how banks conduct themselves. The whole basis of how the ombudsman is structured is inherently flawed and bias. The Devil's advocate masquerading as David fighting Goliath. Get yourself a good lawyer and take the bank's *ss to court
I put in my complaint using the online platform on 15 August 2022 I got a response via email from Charne .My complaint against Capitec Bank was resolved within 3 weeks as promised. Thank-you very much to Charne and her team for the work you do .
FNB are a bunch of thieves, who auto-deduct payments for their credit cards, then that money "disappears" and they send you messages for that same payment... luckily they are Sloppy THIEVES who did not cover their Criminal tracks...and now you filthy thieves will pay the price.
The ombudsman is clearly paid by the banking industry. Which will explain why they can not be bothered to provide complainants with feedback.
I referred a case to the ombudsman after FNB failed to reimburse me R7500 that was fraudulently withdrawn from my account. It took them 3 weeks to register the case after I had to call them every 2nd day. Absolutely nothing has since been done so I had to eventually just give up on ever resolving the issue. Don't waste your time with this useless institution.
