Very heartbroken and depressed while heavily pregnant, the details they gave me of a doctor they said is contracted to them was false, they totally mislead me and I lost alot of my money because of this, this was the only doctor they said could assist me under my plan, the doctor said to me that they are not contracted with bankmed, and they do not claim medical aid rates even when I reverted to them for assistance they said there is nothing they can do but their systems reflect that the doctor is contracted and that I must speak to the doctor or ask the doctor to call health partners, and it's not even possible to speak directly to the doctors but only receptionist who just tell you what they tell you and cut you off. I had to pay a huge down-payment for the procedure because they promised that I might get my money back after the claim has been processed depending on what the medical aid paid, the doctor actually claimed 400% instead of 100% of the scheme rate, and I never got my money back, I considered going to a public hospital but they were still insisting that the doctor is contracted, and I should see what the medical aid pay after the claim is made and then take it from there, they even say it's a legally binding contract but they can't even take it up legally to even check the doctor up to confirm the information. On the day of the procedure the contracted doctor was present procedure but when they claimed they used another doctors details who was not even present on that day. Still bankmed says there is nothing they can do because the claiming doctor is not contracted while I logged a query ages ago to avoid this and to make sure that they will pay the doctor in full. Doctor actually claimed +R14000 and medical aid only paid R3700 of that. If there was a choice to change medical aid or not have it at all, I would surely consider that.
I feel cheated of my money by Bankmed, i pay R3600 pm in premiums, when it comes to claims and hospitalization they always refuse to pay. I had an incident recently when i needed to go in hospital for a day hospital proceeding i was asked to do a payment because the day hospital was not on their list, only to find out when i interrogated that they don't even have any day hospitals in the city on within 100 KM radius. How many client go through this and pay without even knowing this information? Now i'm sitting with a bill for the specialist which they refused to pay not even 20% of the fees.

We only recently became members of Bankmed, and i have been so impressed. Over this past festive season I had to undergo extensive treatments and tests following severe abdominal pain for weeks. These tests and treatments saved my life undoubtedly. This would not have been possible without the assurance of having Bankmed as security. Thank you Bankmed
Worst medical aid ever! I have never had any joy for the past 3years each time I am admitted there's always issues. Mind you I am on your comprehensive plan but the amount of issues are appalling! Sadly I am stuck with you as this is the only option available from my employer but as for me I would have left it ages ago! Your services are pathetic to say the least!
Worst experience with Bankmed. For 10 months we have been trying to update their mistake regardless of how many times we have called, they refuse to update my spouse's ID. The worst part is that it is compulsory to use this useless medical aid. The consultants are not honest, only to not deal with the situation at hand.
Absolutely terrible process to get medical assistance from a Dr who's not on the network. Between Dr's and bankmed patients have to run around like crazy before being told what is covered and what is not covered. With covid testing requirements now they need to speed up this process to allow for us to do the procedures on time. Bankmed will force you to use their doctors even if they do not have a dsp on record for the medical care you require.
This medical aid is a scam operation run by thieves. You pay over R7000 and they don't pay a single thing and make you pay every single thing from your savings. As soon as your savings is depleted you need to pay cash for everything. I could save R18000 in 3 months and still have money over! A medical aid is supposed to help pay your medical aid bills, not steal your money! I have been on at least 5 different medical aids and this is by far the worst medical aid scheme I have ever been on in my entire life, and I wish banks didn't force their staff to be on it, I would leave it in an instant if I had any choice in the matter. I sent them my chronic medication list more than a week ago, then they approve it under the wrong medical aid scheme, because Bankmed is administered by Discovery even though my reference number is a Bankmed one, and my application form is Bankmed application form with the Bankmed letterhead on it, then I apply again and just don't hear anything back from them and its time to refill my chronic script but they have not approved my chronic medication yet which has always been approved by all other medical aid schemes previously. Get your spouse to join a medical aid scheme if you are married and become a dependant on their medical aid and avoid this pathetic, useless, incompetent worst medical aid scheme in the country at all costs!
These guys are the worst. They reject your claims even if you follow the correct process. Suppose it's all about the money these days.
