Beautiful trail. Lots of flood damages still. Took trail to right from entrance Not for anyone who is unsteady on their feetVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Its a Lovely Nature Reserve. Its worth Checking out, however the hike is abit extreme and dangerous for me personally, but for anyone whose up for the challenge its good
It is a lovely place to go and be in nature right in the middle of Westville. Most of the trails are good to use however the further you go from the main entrance the worse they get. A couple sections of the trails are completely overgrown and you cannot find where the trail continues. Be very careful of wasps in these areas.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
It's very peaceful and calming just to look over at the river, there's an abundant variety of birdlife too. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough for us to attempt a hike. Toilets are kept clean, all covid safety regulations are followed and practiced at the reserve.
Delightful rock formations, an historic dig, grasslands full with butterflies, wonderful indigenous plants and lots of walks to enjoy. One of the best places for nature walks and time alone. Very close to Durban although you wouldn't believe it. Fantastic!
Good walking trails with some decent views. The river crossing points were abit challenging for the kids. I found the braai facilities to be limited in space. The kids didn't have much space to run around or explore at the braai facilities.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Over view of the place . There is a decent parking area . There is no security . There is a school of some sort next to the reserve. At the entrance there is a map of all the hikes . In total there is about 6 hikes. Ranging from 0.5 km to about 4km . There is no entrance fee . To enter there is just a gate to open. There is a small boma in the front . Next to the boma there is a pond with fish . And just below the boma there a small stream. The bathrooms are abit dilapidated. The hikes are marked all along the way but there is room for improvement. The longest hike goes parallel to the river and there are houses on the other side of the river. There is cell phone reception along the hike. So overall it need improvement. And just a suggestion that it is much safer to go with a group
A lovely place to trail walk. Good for getting back in touch with nature. You can follow the river by jumping rocks or go on one of the trails. The trails will take you up to an altitude from which you can view the river.
Scenic. Plenty of trails depending on your needs. Lots of fun river crossings. Located close to the city. Braai facilities are available on request. Good option for a family/outdoor adventure day.
Its always a blessing to be in nature and Palmiet Nature reserve certainly is a blessing. Not too much of variety to see but there are some cool hiking trails to do including bird watching and some lovely rivers etc...
