We come back to Paternoster Brewery every time we're around here. Such a wonderful location, quiet and relaxing out of the buzz of the town. It's safe and has more than enough parking space too. Today we brought our dog with for the first time, they are pet friendly - we chose to sit outside. The staff was very kind and brought our pup a water bowl and even some ice to chew on. A very family friendly space, with a fun jungle-gym outside for kiddos to play on. They also have a kids menu! We did a beer tasting & then also ordered bitterballen and some chippies. The bitterballen were nice - crunchy and soft - but they were surprisingly spiced with curry. We thought they were a bit overpriced at R120 for 6. The chips was a generous portion and really well seasoned. Overall, a wonderful relaxing atmosphere! Great and friendly staff! A must-do if you're around Paternoster.
Very nice brewery and taproom in a great location with views of the surrounding countryside and the pretty town of Paternoster. The brewery has a good selection of beers and food, both of excellent quality. I would recommend the brewery for both its beer and food.
As a beer lover I also try and look out for new craft breweries popping up, so when I heard about the Paternoster Brewery I just knew I had to go visit. Arriving at the brewery I was very impressed - the building has a modern and open design with the bar area; where the beers are poured being the focal point right in the center. They have glass windows next to the brewing equipment which is always nice for brewing enthusiasts to see and they have an outside deck and kids play area where you can relax, have a beer or two and grab something to eat. We decided to do a tasting, which is normally 4 beers, but as their 4th beer is a seasonal beer they replace it with water they did discount the tasting for us because of this. I found their beers very light - even the Porter which is normally quite a heavy beer - and personally feel that their recipes need a bit of refinement, but they have a good foundation to work from. Their beers seem to be catered for those that enjoy lighter styled beers and if you did enjoy what you tasted, they do have bottles available to purchase. Although we didn't grab anything to eat, looking at some of the other tables that had food it looked really good.
At the time we visited, the tasting cost R12 a glass for 'normal' beers and R16 for 'premium' ones, generally you choose a tray of four but you are free to try more. The tasting glasses are 100ml which is quite large for a taster - if you are with a partner, sharing is a good plan! Removable labels on the tasting trays would be a good addition as one tends to lose track of what is what as the tasting progresses :-D For me their non-alcoholic raspberry & rooibos blend was the winner - super-yummy!! Lovely brewery with the local Paternoster beers. Very neat place with friendly staff. We visited before the grand opening and it was nice. The amount of beers and food options are still limited but I’m sure the menu will evolve along with the brewery itself. All the best guys! Best from Amsterdam
Every now and then you discover a little gem. Good Food, Good Beer. Great Atmosphere. a Visit to this area wont be complete without a visit
Situated a stone’s-throw away from the town in a picturesque setting surrounded by delightful Cape Fynbos, the atmosphere is relaxing and scenic. Tried the IPA, which was flavourful and had a lingering earthy taste, a great brew!
One of the best IPA's I've had. Food is also good. Chilled vibe with great country location.Food: 5/5
Hidden gem! Staff very friendly, lovely beer and gin. Great music. Food is amazing! We have been here many times and will return again and again. Bonus that there are no beggars here like in town..
It is a great little brewery. Definitely worth a visit! The IPA is very good.
