Description

Safari Restaurant started as a quaint little tea garden to compliment Safari Garden Centre in 1994. Since then it has grown exponentially to include a restaurant, conference and wedding facility. Development was driven by the need of our patrons to have an unique venue where they can relax in the tranquility of nature. Whether sipping a cocktail on the decks, watching the youngsters playing in the animal farm or tying the knot - your visit to Safari will be a wholesome experience. Went there for breakfast on 17 June 2023. The service was slow, perhaps it was a breakfast rush. We had made a reservation a few days earlier for a table of 6 close to the pond. When we got there they acknowledged the booking but the table was taken, so we had to sit elsewhere. Our waiter gave us attitude for wanting to order breakfast just after 10am. We still got to order breakfast but we had to wait an entire hour. We ordered: muesli bowl, omelettes, Safari English breakfast and a farmhouse breakfast, juices, hot chocolate and coffee. The waiter never checked in on us or communicated about the wait. I acknowledge that he was serving other tables and our table appeared to not be his side. Anyway, my partner had to literally get up from the table and physically start looking for him as we wanted to pay. When we couldn't find him, someone who appeared to be the manager was approached and he said he would sort out the bill situation. We figured that you just print the bill receipt and we could pay but this seemed not so easy as we had to wait for the waiter anyways. Not sure how they operate. I only had the muesli bowl, a hot chocolate and a juice. The rest of the table said that the food was good. We all agreed that the service is slow and that isn't something new as some of them has eaten there before. We noticed that other tables near us were also experiencing the same slow service.
We went to Safari for the plant experience. Was actually quite disappointed. It's not the Safari I remembered in the past. There were far fewer plants, and the prices are really a bit exorbitant. It seems like Safari shifted the focus from plants, to entertainment and being a venue. The atmosphere is not the same : The food at the restaurant was quite nice, but the service was not that great.
What a lovely surprise of a place, they have a variety of interesting things for whole family - a nursery, farm animals, kiddies play area, a bar and restaurant set in a lush outdoor setup. Their prices are just right and the meal portions are fair.
Try the Hake and Calamari, with the Veg Of The Day side. The butternut tart which is the Veg Side was smashing! Wish I could order note of just that tart :D Relaxing atmosphere if you can get seated near the sides, with a good view of the pond and the ducks. This place is popular, so I would recommend coming at an odd time as in, not at 12:00 so that you'll get a decent seat and faster service.
Great atmosphere ‼No reason to complain for sitting and waiting for food anyway the food came quicker than I expected lots of customers⁉Enjoy eating and indulged in the great atmosphere, green trees , waterfall, sunbathing ducks, chill fish swim around me....everywhere around you are green green green‼Ahhhh....for the people to love you can walk around and find the you love
The place is very beautiful especially for nature lovers like me. There’s beautiful birds around. I like the water view as you enjoy your meal it feels like you are on a getaway but it’s right in city! I went for lunch with my partner , the service was good , the food is fairly okay although we asked for a medium to well steak but they served us well done. The manager however apologized on behalf of the chef so we considered that and decided we will come back.
The surrounding water and garden is lovely and good for the soul! In the week service is better but normally you will have to wait quite long for service. The food and coffee is good. Very friendly servers.
Always nice to eat here. Relaxing atmosphere. They had 2 functions going, but the food was still served within 25 minutes.Food: 4/5
Wanted to enjoy some time in great surrounding but sadly we came, no one was interested to serve us, not even to greet or care to look at us, nobody gave any attention to our presence, so we left. So not likely that we will visit Safari Resraurant soon, went to Karoo Cafe and enjoyed an very special time. Sorry can not even give a star for the food or atmosphere because never had the chance to experience it.
Don't know what happened to their portion sizes used to be value for money
